I think it's flattering that Ed would canonize someone's words as lyrics in his songs. Plus, it's not like Ed was plagiarizing melodies he sang.

From what I have heard, Ed participated in circles that talked about all sorts of mystical shit and Ed ripped others peoples thoughts.

Example:

Person 1: Guys, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

Lyrics for new single: Oooooo child....ooooooOOOOOO.....life is like a box of chocolates....lawd....you nevah know what u gonnnnnnnnnaaaah get"
