Someone told me that on a Live FB group, CCP's long time business associate just said that it is FACT that Ed NEVER stole from his bandmates. Very nice to be able to finally put all that drama to rest.

Note: This thread was not created by SJN1279. It was split from the NYE Party At Think Loud Entertainment thread.

I can understand to some extent people just being like "I don't want to know about this stuff, I just want the music!" because the music is, at the end of the day, the most important thing .. despite what Nick will have you believe.
But to me, the music with artists you follow so closely for so long, is intrinsically linked to where it is coming from. If the origin of that music is shady, it makes it pretty difficult to properly enjoy the music. All I hear is dishonesty and dis-ingenuity when I hear Ed's voice. So, I think for people who may be similar then things like this are at the very least, interesting. It is a learned association. Those things are not simple to break. Pavlov didn't just immediately stop his dog salivating at the sound of a bell the instant he wanted the dog to stop. Something Bill seems to have trouble understanding, apparently, the instant he says jump everyone must ask "how high?"
That's why it was pretty blissful with Chris ... it was Live music without feeling ... weird about it. Now that Ed is back, its a hurdle to get over. You'd think those close to the band, their friends, representatives would be pretty understanding of 20+yr fans who are in that group.

Its why I am willing to give the new Live a chance. I am very, very doubtful about it, I don't know if I can hear anything other than a very bad sound when I hear Ed sing. If, against all odds I end up liking it, hey I'll be happy that's rad. If not then I definitely won't stick around. I know this is an extreme example and its far worse than anything Live has ever done, would do, or could do. But one of my favourite guitarists ever, imo, the greatest guitarist ever to live, ended up killing himself because he was about to be charged with child sex crimes. It is repulsive and as much as I loved his music I simply cannot listen to it anymore. With Live, creatively, artistically, whatever, there was a massive decline for so long after such a high ... and then you throw in all this shady stuff that has gone on for years with Ed who was also the focal point of the artistic decline ... it all wrapped up together can be a difficult pill to swallow when he's back and people are just like "hey lol he's cool now, accept it or fuck off". No, fuck you, these are personal journeys that every fan will go to. Some have already checked out, some have different levels of what is acceptable to them to either get back on board or not.
We aren't all the same ... asking people to stop caring about things, or to stop questioning or whatever just because you are in a different place is pretty narrow minded. To just meekly accept the word of those "above" I feel isn't really doing yourself much self-service or respect. We aren't sheep.
Maybe that is how we got into this in the first place, we followed CCP and people like Bill like sheep because they spent so long painting Ed as the villain. Maybe Bremang is right and we should have questioned everything more like we should now and continue to do.

And now its about wanting people to accept an apology (apparently only Ed got one of those) and move on. Just hush hush, under the covers. Its people not wanting to have to face the consequences or backlash that they spent years cultivating. You don't just get to wave a magic wand and have it your way. When people were trashing Ed, people like Bill were egging them on in the wings .. there was no "hey guys, come on, settle down" it was all fine then to ask questions and be cynical. Now that its not in your interests anymore its an embarrassed heads down "lets move on".
