Simple Question: Which album or album period got you initially hooked on this band? music.gif Since this is a fan site I thought it would be interesting to see where or when people found their interest in Live.

My answer for me is simple: Throwing Copper. I saw Live playing Selling the Drama on MTV's broadcast of Woodstock and I've been hooked ever since! I love different things about each of the albums but that's where it started for me.

Fun poll!

All through the 80's, I loved (still love) heavy metal. My fave genre are "hair bands." Back then, every week, I'd use my babysitting money to buy the latest albums, concert tickets (I remember a general admission concert ticket being 20-25 dollars!), t-shirts, buttons/pins for my denim jacket, and metal magazines (Metal Edge, RIP, Hit Parader, Circus). I had metalhead pen pals all over the world (pre-Internet when we wrote actual letters)... Ah, those were the "good old days!" In my little "shit towne", you could not get MTV with your cable, you had to have a satellite dish. We were too poor for that. I would babysit every Friday night for a family that had a dish (selfishly, so I could watch Headbangers Ball after the kids went to bed). I remember the day in 1991 when I saw Nirvana's video premier on MTV and my heart started to beat fast, as I knew that hair metal's reign was about to be over. At the same time/shortly after, MTV was playing Operation Spirit in heavy rotation. It's hard to put into words what that song and video (them dancing around that bonfire on the beach) did for me. They were mysterious, different, intriguing. I went and bought M.J. (cassette!) and listened to it over and over. Love every song on that album. Hair bands indeed slowly fell by the wayside. Early 90s I remember getting into Faith No More and Red Hot Chili Peppers too (didn't listen to them until Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which off the top of my head was also 1991, I think)... LIVE's music just came into my life at the perfect time. Their music carried me through college. --They were my go-to CD's to spin when I was studying. I remember as a junior in college, in my dorm room, tearing off the plastic of my new Secret Samadhi CD... for
some reason, it's such a vivid memory...the brand new smell of the liner notes, pouring over those lyrics....

What an awesome band.
