I think Shinn's voice sounds beautiful. I really like it.

You can't ever replace the lead singer and have things the same. Just not going to happen. Even if Ed came back, how do you think that will sound? What kind of music do you think they'd write?

To everything there is a season. Ed season is over. Ed isn't even Ed anymore. None of us are who we were 20 years ago. Enjoy what we have for what it is.

I beg to differ. If your replacement singer is better (key word is better) than your original, it will work for the band. Yes it's been rare, but not impossible.

To everything there is a season? None of us who we were 20 years ago? I try applying that to the rock bands that I have seen lately... a decade or more older than Live and who are still just as bad ass as ever. To name a few, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, Tesla, Def Leppard, Van Halen... heck even thought I don't care for them, I'll even give Kiss their dues. Sure, lead singer's voices aren't as strong, members have gained weight, they don't move around as much on stage. But I have and will continue to enjoy every moment of what they do, they are still true to who they are, and it's never been an embarrassing shit-show.

Not that replacing the lead singer won't work, it's that it just won't be the same. Some bands and acts can maintain the quality of their performance over time, no doubt. But it just can't be the same as 20 years ago. Good, sure. But not quite the same. That's all.

I saw Billy Joel recently and loved every second of it. Just loved it. But is he as good a singer as he was 20 years ago? Definitely not.

What I've been hoping for lately, and finally, is not that Live would return to form and be magical again, but for me to take interest in another musical group the same way I did with Live 20 years ago. I kind of want to start the journey again. This time, hopefully, with a better ending.

I hear ya. My favorite band since 1983, Motley Crue, are retiring New Year's Eve & I'm very sad. Thirty two years is a whole lotta love. I also still have the ache in my heart of missing Live. My two favorite bands have/are leaving me & yeah, it's just not the same without that continued musical journey. I try to find new bands to get into, but I just don't think I'll ever find a "love" like these. It's so depressing. And boring.
