Last night I saw Blink 182 with Matt Skiba and was shocked by how receptive the crowd was to the new singer. Chants of "Skiba! Skiba!" rang all night long. It was as if the original member of the band was back, not the opposite.

Any theories as to why Blink 182 with Skiba went over so well with the fans whereas replacing Ed with Chris was extremely mixed?

He may not sound EXACTLY the same, but its distinct. You know its Ed. You would have no idea that CCP were CCP just from their playing because its not distinct.

speak for yourself. I think Gracey's drum patterns are pretty diagnostic (I am a drummer myself, so I tend to pick up on that).

If I hadn't heard anything since Secret Samadhi. I don't think I would have recognized Ed's solo material as Ed.

I agree with Gracey being somewhat distinct. When I hear that horse galloping drum on iris I think there's not any other songs out there which are drummed that way. I think mfitz already said he wasn't comparing old ed to new ed, just that a great deal of fans associate mostly with Ed's voice when they think of Live. But if you were to compare old and new, I bet if you hadn't heard anything after SS, if someone played the Turn for you 18 years later and asked you if you knew the band name, you would not say Live. Shinns voice, having a new singer would throw you off, and CCPs instrumental rock in the mix I bet would not tip you off.
