I'm glad Ed is happy and doing his thing, that being said, these videos of the show in PA are quite awful.

He should stick to acoustic only. His band is out of practice and out of tune. As trying to hear the original performances of the music and lyrics.....this stuff is royally bad to my ears. Dissonance is the word that comes to mind.

The performances of these classic songs are at best a 3/10 scale and that is being generous. When i compare the 2 shows from same venue (on the videos), I hear the truer sound and lyrics being performed by LIVE even with Chris singing them with a more angst tone and emotion. If you cannot see and hear that, then the comparison of time and distance is lost on the listener. If I paid to see that show, i'd have definately felt ripped off if i saw the band back in the day even up to say, 2002 time frame then saw this show.

A song like Stage, Otter Creek, WD, Lakini's need angst in the song performance. I am not seeing that, but, Ed doesn't sing that way anymore. I think it totally ruins the way the song was meant to performed. But if he's happy, then that's fine. Some things in a live performance should be held to standard. I am not seeing it, nor have I for quite some time coming off. I saw an acoustic performance of Ed last year and it was good, this stuff should be abandoned at all costs.

I am sure i will get taken to task for my opinion, but my ears and eyes cannot lie.

Exactly what I was trying to bring up, except my English is not up to what I would like to express.

The backup band destroys it more than Ed's voice for me. Sometimes Ed is really close to get that angst, but it's like if he doesn't allow himself to go there...sad.

+1000 to the above post.
