Live's The Turn on the Charts Options

Live's new album "The Turn" debuted at #133 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the US.

The Live "brand" (if it even exists) in it's entirety is not a singular style.

It goes from raw dynamic mental jewelry,

to bizarrely awesome throwing copper,

and increases in overproduction and darkness for SS,

and becomes part of the loudness wars and gets softer and more "love" themed in TDTH,

and gets hyper poppy and topical on V with undertones of spirituality,

and gets really chunky and syrupy for BOP,

and super soft and mellow, and adult contemporary for BOP

....with Radiant Sea and Paradiso following suit with mature contemporary music.

You can say that each album departed from the brand of it's predecessor, and therefore Live detracted from it's brand throughout their career.

You can say the first four albums were the real Live, but that isn't true as long as CCP signed the dotted line for every Live release.

The charts do not reflect fanfare accurately for all of Live's fans. Trends in methods of purchasing music and trends in popular musical styles will have a major influence on the final numbers.

No fan's opinion will be an official statement for the opinions of tons of other fans, or Live's success. Everyone can speak for themselves, and Live's success will be measured by how CCP feel about the music.
