And i enjoyed your review about The Turn

Thank you! It feels good to be passionate about a Live album again. I was extremely skeptical of Chris Shinn at first, but I think they tailor made the album to play to his strengths, while re-inventing themselves in a manner that gives them at least a shot of being relevant again. Will some people look up at the stage and cringe when they don't see Ed up there? Absolutely. But, like I said, keeping an open mind is important. I was pleasantly surprised. I look forward to seeing some of the songs in person.

Now that I've broken the seal, maybe I'll speak up a little more. I don't know the insides of the band and I barely know the story of what drove them apart. All I know is the music. Live was number one to me back when I was younger, and a big part of that was Ed's vocals. Ed, much like Live has evolved. He is a different artist, now working in a different genre. People in the Christian Rock world probably eat up what he has to offer. I said it before, I thought that Alive was a good album...and I'm not into that genre. I think that CCCP have evolved as well. If you keep an open mind, it really can be a win/win for everyone in both camps. There really isn't much reason for hate. All you have to do is ask yourself the question. Is Ed better off right now going on his own? Yes. It gives him the freedom to do what he wants at his leisure without having any creative strife with his band. Is Live better off now with Chris instead of Ed? Yes. Chris allows the band to move towards the creative direction that they wanted to go, while having a serviceable vocalist who can even hold his own singing some of the old stuff. If Live was in its original lineup, you would more than likely see an album that was the composite of two artistic mindsets going in opposite directions. In cases like that, you get albums that are half hearted, and lacking in chemistry. If you are a fan of Live, and you have an open mind, you win based on the fact that at least all of the members in its original lineup are creatively dedicating 100% to their efforts. Personally, I love it.
