BOP was much more well received than their previous album, V. I've listened to BOP just as much as the other great albums and absolutely love that album.

The 2 worst albums by far are V and SFBM. V was too experimental and failed miserably, so they went back to their roots for BOP, maybe played it a bit safe, but released some amazing classic memorable Live tunes on that record. Heaven should not have been the first track on the album nor the first single, although it got pretty heavy airplay on Hot AC radio for a while.

I think that's when it became obvious that CCP and Ed wanted to go in completely different directions. Presumably CCP wanted to get back to heavier rock and Ed wanted slower creative haunting melodic rock. They couldn't come to a consensus on the sound of SFBM, so CCP said screw it, go ahead and do this yourself, and Ed went into solitude somewhere in Black Mountain and put together this album himself with zero contributions from CCP. The lackluster effort resulted in a rift between the band that never recovered.

If you look on Amazon, all LIve albums get 4 1/2 stars according to customer reviews, except V and SFBM which both get 3 1/2 stars. I think that's the general consensus among most fans. I'm glad Ed went his own way. He's not feeling the pressure of taking on a band that doesn't match his style or vocals anymore. He still has an incredible voice but it wouldn't suit well on The Turn. Hopefully enough people will keep supporting both parties, and maybe one day we'll get a World Tour with Live featuring special guest Ed Kowalczyk or vice versa. lol.gif Wouldn't that be an interesting tour?

By the way, did anyone else notice Amazon's description of The Turn.. "9th studio album".. ?

I don't think that there is consensus that BoP deserves 4.5/5. It has some two great songs (Like I Do and Lighthouse), 2 very good songs (She and Rivertown), a few ok songs and a couple of crappy songs (Bring the people Together and Every time I see your face). It was not consistent - there were songs which did not fit with other songs. On these grounds it was on a par with TDTH but TDTH had better songs overall and not a single bad song. BoP was just an attempt (a failed one) to return to the form. However, it was too Ed to achieve the desired return.

Again, I think it's just a matter of taste because I think Every Time I See Your Face is a phenominal song. I know it sound pop, but I don't mind that. To me, it's one of their best. Sweet Release is another killer song imo. I can listen to that album from start to finish and still not get bored of it.

A phenomenal song? Ok, I have no words. Even if it is a good song on its own, it has nothing to do with Live.

It's on my phone so I'm listening to it now.. and yes it's phenominal. The song flows effortlessly. It has a feel-good vibe to it. The melody is a standout. And the song actually goes somewhere instead of falling flat. At about 2:30 it builds into a nice crescendo. The vocals in this track are great too. It's a song I never get bored of.
