Over the Easter weekend, I saw some old friends that I used to listen to Live with in high school when we were growing up in the York area. They hadn't really liked anything after V, although they still bought each album and listened a few times with hope, etc. They hadn't even really heard the band had broken up.

So I invited them over to my place to listen to "something cool" and I played The Flood and the Mercy for them. I didn't say it was Live or just Ed, but I could tell they hadn't heard any of it before.

The general reaction was: "Wow, Live is really getting back to good form! If they keep this up, the next album could be amazing."

And then I had to tell them it was just Ed, etc, and explain about the new Live with a new lead singer, etc.

But they really got me thinking... if The Flood and the Mercy had been put out by Live after The Distance to Here or maybe V, how would it have been received?

Any thoughts on that?

I wish that some of y'all wouldn't be too stubborn admit that Ed + CCP reuniting is a possibility. wink.gif Selling albums is these guy's livelihood and has been since they were all fresh out of high school. Not to sound snarky, but when CC & P and Ed get tired of not making as much money apart as they do together, they will come to their senses.

No, Ed's voice is not the same. Vocal chords are muscles. --Just as I can't run miles like I used to in college, Ed's voice is not going to sound the same as it did in 1995. Even with good habits (water, no smoking, etc.), a singer's vocal chords get wear and tear and they will not sound as good or the same as they did years before.

All bands, no matter how much they blew up on the scene, have a professional peak. I've been a life-long Crue fan. I unfortunately don't have a time machine, so it's never be 1981-1984 (their peak) again. We all know it will never be the 1990's for LIVE again either. But LIVE can have some form of brilliance again, just as Motley Crue had with the album "Saints of Los Angeles" in 2008 (after which two albums prior to SoLA were "Birds of Prey"-ish to say the least).

As I've stated here many times, If Chris Shinn floats your boat, I am happy for you and you have my respect. I once asked in a separate thread how/why many of you can be so accepting. I've tried what was suggested, including listening to Shinn prior to his LIVE stint. It didn't work. shrug.gif

the issue here is that Ed discredited them with contracts and stole money from them, it's not simply just creative differences. It's also what Ed did to the Live extended family through his Ego and mis-behvior.

THey don't need Ed to make money anymore, haven't in a long time. In fact they don't need to put out records and tour either to survive. They'll never reach the peak like 94-97 ever again so it's pointless. The music creative process and to make music the right way (all 4 is what motivates them). They have much move in life to sustain and move them.

Reuniting with Ed is over and done. They've moved on after attempts to discuss mending fences, sans the lawsuits. Someone is still living by the ego. Too many in CCP's innver circle won;t allow that pain again. They've found their current zen with Chris Shinn. Please try to get over the split and move on, it is the best for all parties involved.
