I dont know all the details of Live's break up. I have seen and read a few different things over the last year or two. Although the details for me are not totally clear, I cant help but feel these four blokes have let people like you and I down.

I also think the time has come for things to change. For things to become clearer and for the four original Live members to stop the nonsense.

This is what i understand to have happened. I could be wrong and i may not know details. So this is from my perspective from what i know.

*Ed said he quit Live to refresh and put new energy into his music.
* There were reports Ed wanted more money cause he was the lead singer before they split at one particular concert.
* Ed went solo, TGF released an album. Chads and Pat suid or are still suing Ed over something childish.
* Chris Shinn is now Ed. They may be called Live but he is singing Ed's lyrics. That just seems wrong to me.

I could be wrong but i think these blokes owe us more. Ive seen Live/Ed 12 times. I own all their albums. I dont expect anything more than the simple truth on what happened to my favourite band. I dont think that has ever been said. If it has then I havent heard it.

It looks like they will go their separate ways from here. Which happens. Friends from school now not being friends isnt a first in life, and wont be a last. But the foolish suing each other thing is embarrassing.

I dont know if it sounds weird but you feel that following this band you are part of the community that makes up its support. You show them a loyalty through your support and I dont think its too much to ask for some back. Right now I think the band has shown little loyalty to their fans.

Not all of the claims are petty.

If I recall, there is a claim that Ed kept one million dollars to himself for a signing bonus, that belonged to all members of the band. If this is true, then obviously Ed owes hundreds of thousands of dollars.

However, CCP are suing Ed for millions for Ed's bootlegs that he sells on his website. Who on earth actually buys those things?

But then a new complaint was about how Ed was using the name Live. Kinda silly IMO to get bent out of shape about that.

It's completely unfair for Ed to use the LIVE name when he left the band and the band is performing new material at shows and has a tour coming up. It would be like Ozzy leaving Black Sabbath to do his own thing but calling himself Black Sabbath while Black Sabbath is touring with Dio as the singer and making new stuff.

CC&P might not win big on the bootleg thing but they are going to get a large settlement from Ed for the use of their trademark name.

How can they prove damages for that? When Ed was using the trademark, Live 2.0 didn't tour or exist. If anything, Ed kept Live's name out in public view.

Now that Live 2.0 is gearing up for a tour, Ed is being billed as the former singer of Live. I believe that is one thing that was actually agreed upon from their settlement meeting.

The lawsuit makes CCP look petty and is utterly ridiculous. Ed wrote a piece of all of the band's material, and to the masses will always be the lead singer of Live. However, no where on the billing for his tours, did it say that Ed was the current lead singer of Live. As far as anyone was concerned, Live was on hiatus at that point anyway.

Now that Live is back with a new singer, Ed is billing himself as the former lead singer as to not cause confusion. The lawsuit is a mute point.

Exhibit A(item still being sold in Live's official store):

100% cotton Army Green t-shirt with distressed Live cross logo with band members names and large cross graphic on the back.

https://missinginkshop.com/live/store/appar...d-cross-t-shirt

If anyone is currently causing confusion, its CCP and Art Alexakis.

So should they stop selling all their recordings too because that could be misleading with this logic. lol.gif The difference of couse is that Ed is getting compensated and CCP are not. If Ed wasn't he'd be suing them too.

All recordings have a copyright date. That t-shirt does not. It is being billed as having band members bands(Ed included).
