Here's an article from our local paper about the show...

QUOTE
Star-studded concerts benefit Sandy Hook

This weekend blues-rock legend Johnny Winter, Yankees baseball-star-turned-musician Bernie Williams and an all-star lineup of more than 20 local performers will join forces with the Ridgefield Playhouse for two concerts in support of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The concerts will take place at the playhouse on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will go toward a memorial park to honor the victims as well as ongoing psychological trauma help for the survivors and first responders.

In addition to Williams and his band, Saturday's concert will include performances by singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, actress and Broadway star Andrea Frierson, Broadway actress Karmine Alers from "Rent," Connecticut teen pop-rock band Kicking Daisies, Carly and Eliza, Bobby Paltauf and others.

Sunday's lineup will feature Winter and his band, Ed Kowalczyk, Chris Berardo and the Desperados, the Steve Clarke Trio, Wagon Wheel, the Kathy Thompson Band and the Stamford High School Madrigals, as well as other acts.

Winter is a revolutionary blues guitarist who came in at No. 74 in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." He lives in western Connecticut and his career has seen a surge in popularity since he appeared last year on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and released "Roots," an album featuring Winter's arrangements of classic blues songs.

After Williams retired from baseball he was able to focus on his music. He's a classically-trained guitarist who plays and composes with influences including jazz, classical, pop, Brazilian and Latin music.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is at 80 E. Ridge. Tickets are $45 and $75. Call 203-438-5795 or visit www.ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
