In Ed's head, he is talking about how he has changed from rock and roll excess to finding god/family. Many of us here twist it into him singing about how he has changed to become a guy who backstabs his friends CC&P. This is probably the clearest way I can explain it here for someone who is new to the board

CCP had no problem taking 75 percent song writing credit and money for songs that Ed basically wrote 100 percent himself. I think that is a pretty crummy thing to do to a friend.

Not much to say about SFBM other than pour more salt on the wounded Live fans of long ago. Sure, some longtime fans gave it a spin, none of them expecting much but possibly hoping for a surprise. Based on its performance, even amongst the new set of soft rock fans it failed to resonate as much as things like Rob Thomas or Train. Not even an appearance on American Idol could generate interest in the album. Shortly thereafter Live died a quiet death and although there was much controversy surrounding their breakup not too many people even heard about it or paid much attention.
