In Ed's head, he is talking about how he has changed from rock and roll excess to finding god/family. Many of us here twist it into him singing about how he has changed to become a guy who backstabs his friends CC&P. This is probably the clearest way I can explain it here for someone who is new to the board smile.gif

CCP had no problem taking 75 percent song writing credit and money for songs that Ed basically wrote 100 percent himself. I think that is a pretty crummy thing to do to a friend.

P.S. - one other thing. Two Live albums topped the charts at #1. Throwing Copper and Secret Samadhi. We know that Ed could not claim sole responsibility for either of those albums. Chad and Ed worked together on much of Throwing Copper with substantial input from CG and PD. And Secret Samadhi? What about the fact that they all went down to Jamaica and got high and went nuts and worked out those songs together and made the album we have today. We all KNOW that happened. That is FACT.

Ed wrote the majority of the songs on Throwing Copper, with writing contributions interspersed by Chad T. and Pat. If you read the linear notes for Live at the Paradiso, you can see which songs Chad and Pat really had a hand in.

Secret Samadhi charted #1 due to the overwhelming success of Throwing Copper(especially Lightning Crashes which just exploded). The album itself was a disappointment to many fans(not me) and began Live's slide down off the mainstream.
