In Ed's head, he is talking about how he has changed from rock and roll excess to finding god/family. Many of us here twist it into him singing about how he has changed to become a guy who backstabs his friends CC&P. This is probably the clearest way I can explain it here for someone who is new to the board smile.gif

CCP had no problem taking 75 percent song writing credit and money for songs that Ed basically wrote 100 percent himself. I think that is a pretty crummy thing to do to a friend.

How does that stack up against Live's first 4 albums?

If you want to go by album notes:

The first 3 albums are credited as this:

All lyrics written by Ed Kowalczyk, all music composed by Live. Which means all four supposedly worked on the music, while Ed wrote the lyrics. If that was the case, Ed should receive a larger royalty than CCP, since he wrote the lyrics solo, and contributed to the music as well.

On The Distance to Here:
All songs written by Ed Kowalczyk, except:
"Run to the Water" (Kowalczyk, Patrick Dahlheimer)
"Voodoo Lady" (Kowalczyk, Chad Taylor)
"They Stood Up for Love" (Kowalczyk, Dahlheimer, Taylor)
10 songs were credited to Ed solo yet he still shared 75 percent of royalties with CCP including major hit The Dolphin's Cry.

V:
All songs written by Ed, royalties shared by full band.

BOP:
All songs written by Ed Kowalczyk, except:
"Like I Do" (Kowalczyk, Patrick Dahlheimer, Chad Taylor)
"Lighthouse" (Kowalczyk, Taylor) – 3:08
9 songs written by Ed solo including the hit Heaven, where he only received 25 percent royalties.

SFBM
All Ed, and yet CCP are suing over song-writing royalties for songs they didn't write and have denounced.
