Long songs Options

I've always had a soft spot for long songs. When a band takes their time to develop the track and doesn't try to get to the chorus in 30 seconds makes for a more satisfying musical experience. It also gives the band more scope to experiment and flesh it out when playing it live...

It's one thing to have a 8+ minute song on an album, but it takes courage to release such a track as a single and then try to make a music video that does it justice.

So, what are your favourite long tracks? A standout for me is "Estranged" by Guns N' Roses. It's an epic track that clocks in at around 9 minutes 30 sec. The video cost 4 million dollars back in 1993 which made it one of the most expensive videos of the time. My favourite part of the video is when Axl jumps off an oil tanker in the middle of the ocean. Definitely worth checking out.
