Right now am watching a friendly of Netherlands VS N.Ireland and I am so high on emotions, that I decided to start this thread.

Who's in? Of course, I am supporting my national team, and Netherlands being a close second. Will try to watch most of the matches.

I watch a lot of football, and they have this 'fifth' official in the UEFA Champions League games as well (probably a Platini / UEFA things), and I have yet to see the 5th Official actually get involved and make some calls.

It appears as though no one is entirely sure what they role is in the game. They can't make offside calls obviously cos of where they're positioned, so you would think their role is to have a closer look at what goes on in and around the 18 yard box, the goal itself and maybe the byline. But they never seem to be too interested in making any calls when the ref makes a tight call, whether correctly or in correctly.

Perhaps, he can only be called upon IF the ref feels he's unsure of a decision, but have not seen that either.

Platini and UEFA should be clear about what exactly the role of that official is. At the moment seems like a fail.
