When I first heard Deep Enough I loved it because I thought Ed was mocking modern rap music. Then I got the rest of the album and realized that he was serious about it. sad.gif

Still enjoy the song though.

do you think they really thought they were making good rap music? I feel like the whole album was kind of a gag. like one big joke... maybe I'm just too used to thinking the best of them, but I feel like they were goofing on themselves, on modern rap, on everything. just having fun. I don't think anyone seriously believes that Ed Kowalczyk is capable of quality rapping. (except maybe Ed Kowalczyk, I guess... I'll ask him next time I run into him)

that's the spirit that I enjoy that album in. there's some seriousness to it - overcome, and nobody knows are 2 songs that come to mind as being songs made in earnest (though not my favorites). but People Like You, OK? and Deep Enough just feel like fun experiments where it's cool if we make fools of ourselves, you know?

but I do enjoy the album. it's not lyrically anyone's finest work, but I enjoy it.
