They said he'd only been in Singapore for a couple of hours, so I imagine he is not long off the plane and probably pretty tired.

I agree with Fish in a way that he at least seemed a lot more genuine here. It's hard to put my finger on it, but I didn't get the feel that he was reaching into the bag of "standard Ed K answers" and sounding like is forcing sincerity. I don't think that really indicates any particular change in him, they more than likely just caught him at a good moment.
But themaestro also makes good points in that he really didn't have to delve deep for the interview at all, so it really shouldn't be hard to just come across as relaxed and genuine when everything is really at an elementary level in the interview.
