This all just proves that Ed will do anything/say anything to make a buck.

He doesn't care if his name is associated with his former band nor does he care if his management or the promoters use it.

This is all just showing Ed for who he really is. Greedy, selfish and a liar. The perfect Evangelist???

I'm not usually running to defend Ed (its shameful to me he's calling his tour I Alone) but I'm willing to bet its not on Ed's end that he's being billed as 'of Live.' I have a friend who does PR for a venue in Baltimore and he said they often get no info from artists and have to make stuff up themselves to do billing. its not on CNN or anything that Ed's not a part of Live anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if venues just don't know.
on the other hand, Ed's management could certainly give a proper heads up...

If it is not Ed doing it, then how does a venue in the Philippines have the exact same poster, with font, verbage and photo, as venues in the US? Amazing coincidence? Or information provided by Ed's people?

Has to come from some sort of press kit, or either the venue found that poster and edited it.

From what I know of Ed, he is as much business man as musician and it is my personal belief that he has his finger on the pulse of how his brand and image and marketing are being presented to the public. Venue after venue, his "I Alone" tour where he plays mostly Live songs and a few off of his "ALiVE" album are being billed as "Live's Ed Kowalczyk" using the font and red color that is unique to the likeness and image of Live. All the while, he does interviews where he carefully avoids all discussion of the break-up and his former band where he pretends to not have heard of TGF and he glosses over all the acusations made against him with an uncomfortable smile. He went out on his solo tour before the hiatus and then started his own website where he sold recordings and videos of him performing Live songs without paying publishing and royalties to Black Coffee - the company that owns the rights to those songs.

I think Ed knows exactly how he is being presented to the public, and he is probably personally responsible for it. He strikes me as the kind of person who has his finger on the pulse of his marketing.

And I recently re-read his Answer to the complaint filed against him in New York, and I think that he believes that he is solely responsible for the success of Live, as he thinks that he was the "driving force" and almost excludive song-writer and musican for the band, and that he graciously shared the revenue with CCP for many years as a gratuitous and friendly gesture, but not because they deserved it or earned it or were responsible for the success of Live. So I think that he believes that he has every right to use and exploit Live for his gain now, because I think that he believes that it is rightfully his and he deserves it. I imagine that he has moments in private that would make Mel Gibson blush when he thinks about CCP going off with another lead singer as the band Live without him and the idea of him not being thought of as Live must drive him nuts. Oh well. Too bad, you ungrateful, egotistical SOB.
