It is in my opinion that we should have a Forum For Football.
Here we can talk about our favourite teams and all follow them as the season rolls on.
I'm not interested in any other code other than so called soccer but if you must post non Football related stuff so be it.

My teams are as follow

Newcastle Jets- so far we have had a 0-0 in the first round

Manchester United- 3 wins and counting

Socceroos- Asia cup here we come!

You are not a real Australian if you call Soccer, Football. Football is AFL here, no exceptions.

I'm an Essendon fan and it's been a pretty shitty year really. The most frustrating part about finishing last or second last (depending on this weekend) is that we aren't even that bad. The amount of games we've lost by less than 2 goals is horrible. They kept coming so close but were unable to get the wins. Still, wins of Sydney, Collingwood and Brisbane were sweet.
Next year will be a better year, Hird staying on for another year, Lloyd coming back to the team .. some of the new guys are starting to find their feet a bit more. The Johnsons had a bad year, Hille really stepped up this year as stand in Captain .. I think there are some good signs.
I hope we don't pick up Aka, that'd be terrible, sheedy needs to stop signing 30yr old guys, Campo was bad enough, he was a fantastic player in his day but you just don't sign up guys who only have another year or two left in them .. what's the point.

Funny how you would call a game Australian that was brought from Ireland to keep drunken Irishman from brawling Australian Football.

But more on topic Football or Soccer to the plebs is the most popular game in Australia and the World. It is the only game played on every continent and in every country (yes they have even played football in Antarctica!).
I have no problem with you informing me of AFL stats and finals information but remember there is only one football just not as you know it!!!!!!!!

Newcastle Jets To beat QLD Roar!!!!!!!!!!

Eh it wasn't brought from Ireland, it just borrows some rules from Gaelic as well as other sports an it's own rules. It's an Australian game, if you watched Gaelic you'd see how different they are.

And it's SOCCER, not football. Although technically it's more football than the American stuff. Why do they call NFL football when they barely even seem to kick the friggin thing.

Apparently it is another sad day for Australian football with the news today that Dwight York has transfered toSunderland. How is this a sad Day? a player who was recieving $900 000 a year from Sydney and didnt really make much of a differance.

With players like Milligan and carney and dodd attacking Sydney have not needed Yorke. Ill give him one thing though, he really got the A-league out there. Perhaps Sydney are right in getting Rebberto Baggio to come and play as a special guest.

But onto this weekends fixtures. Newcastle Jets take on Qld Roar tonight in Newcastle. The Roar now have 1 win under their belts and our Ex-goalkepper Liam Reddy, how in my opinion is the best Keeper in Australia. They also have our Ex-striker Milicic who although in his 30's by no means a has been. I pick this game to be a real grudge match as Reddy has always been a crowed favourite because of his skill ( 9 and a half out of 10) and his violent tendencies. Jets should be able to win as long as they hold their back line together, cause even reddy will have trouble stoping shots from Covny and Griffiths.

Just like West Coast were going to win last year?

I'd like Fremantle to win, they're my fav of the interstate teams. Collingwood suck ass and we beat them a couple of weeks ago.

Why Collingwood? I can't understand why people would support them .. like, any other team as much as I dislike them I can see why people would support them .. but Collingwood is like picking the default team. It's going "well .. I don't know anything about music, but I've heard of Elvis, so that's my fav artist of all time!" Fucking hell .. Collingwood?!

And their president is well ... it'd be like umm .. Regis? I think that's his name, the dude from Regis and Kathy-Lee .. basically it'd be like him being president of an NFL team, how could you handle supporting a team that does that.

What a weekend of Football!!!!
The weekend began with my boys the Newcastle Jets V Queensland Roar. both teams played remarkable well and were both equally matched for the majority of the game.
Qld scored first with a pearler of a goal in the first 10 minutes but the Jets were handed a goal when Qld put the ball in the back of their own net. However 5 minutes later Captain Paul Okon did the same thing giving Qld the lead again. 10 minutes later Mark bridge broke down the left wing and sloted the ball passed Liam Reddy the EX-Jets keeper to level the score at half time.

The second half saw both teams attacking heavly but with no goals until 86 minute when through a great attack at goal and a pourly defended goal Qld were able to steal the points and beating the Jets 3-2.

in other games Melbourne Victory beat Sydney in front of a record home crowed of 39730 fans.
New Zealand took their first win in about 8 months beating Adelaide 1-0
and finally It was Perth Glory returning to form that beat the Central Coast Mariners 2-0.
Sep 8 will see round 3 kick off with
Adelaide V Newcastle Jets
Central Coast Mariners V Queensland Roar
New Zealand V Melbourne Victory
Perth Glory V Sydney
It will be another great weekend of Football.

Table
team P W D L F A GD Pts
Queensland Roar FC 2 2 0 0 6 2 4 6
Melbourne Victory 2 2 0 0 5 2 3 6
New Zealand Knights 2 1 1 0 1 0 1 4
Sydney FC 2 1 0 1 3 3 0 3
Perth Glory FC 2 1 0 1 2 3 -1 3
Newcastle United Jets 2 0 1 1 2 3 -1 1
Adelaide United 2 0 0 1 0 3 -3 0
