Hey guys and gals I'm a HUGE fan of +LIVE+ and have been since the first time I heard "Pain Lies on the Riverside" in junior high school on my best friends CD player. His name was Nate and he has been dead now for 4 years. He was my best friend from childhood and we went to every concert one could imagine together, including +LIVE+. Our last show together was in Louisville, Kentucky's Palace Theater. Now I am married to a wonderful woman who is a converted follower of +LIVE+ and from time to time you will find her on posting a replying as Taylor's Love Slave (She loves the stomp, what can I say). So she took me to Reading, Pennsylvania for a show a few weeks ago and while at this small theatre venue (which happened to really remind me of the Palace) I had a thought that me and Nate had discussed all those years ago on our way to see +LIVE+, someone should write a full length biography /historical book on the band.
In my life I've worked in all levels of media (Radio, Publishing, Newspapers) and I'm EXTREMELY intereseted in working on this project if it has not already been attempted. I'm not saying that I am the greatest writer in the world, but I'd love to persue this opportunity seeing that I have the time, dedication and passion. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts, so lets hear it.

As always peace be with all and long live the music of +LIVE+

JB aka good_pain

If you have the time and energy to put into writing a book on them, I'm sure everyone would love that. There are tons of interviews and such out there, so there certainly isn't a lack of material to draw from. Sorry to hear about your friend Nate, btw.

Do it! I'd buy it in a heartbeat (I can be a tad fanatical about Live, though).

That sounds like a great idea! I've always wondered why no one ever wrote a biography on Live, (especially when my b/f is waving with -yet another- Bruce Springsteen biography at me!:p ), there have to be enough stories about them after all those years!

You've got my pre-order, if you decide to go on with it! smile.gif

Hey guys and gals thanks for the early support it really makes me feel better about the whole idea. I really believe in this project and I hope to persue it in the upcoming months. Plus it's always nice to have the support of TLS (thanks sweetie). If anyone has stories, memories etc.. feel free to E-mail me anytime at jlbryant25@gmail.com. I think this project will go over well with all +LIVE+ fans and I hope to gain the support of not only the hardcore fans, but the band as well. Without them then this project is not going to get off the ground.

This project will also be my therapy, since I am an unemployeed school teacher (long story, lets just say the politics of today's schools is insane). But, I leave you with one of my favorite lines from our boys.

"the greatest of teachers won't hesitate
to leave you there by yourself, chained to fate."

Food for thought huh?

Peace be with all,

JB aka good_pain

The idea of a LIVE book is great, however please bare in mind that a lot of poeople think they can write a book on their favorite band and just end up with a boring book of cut and pasted music articles and a brief history of were they grew up.
make sure you have a focus other than a band on the road. talk to roadies and their family these people are the ones that no them better than them selves.

put me down for a copy of it when its done.

Agreed.. I told him this when we were talking about it on the ride home from the Reading concert. He wants to spend time in York, talk to the people there, see what inspired them etc. I think its a great idea to interview the roadies as well.

He's a great writer, but I'm biased.. I married the guy. My only worry is getting his management team to approve him doing an official biography. Without their approval it would be unauthorized, of course. But I would rather have someone who is a lifelong fan of the group and has passion about it write the book, rather than some guy who just writes bio's to get a fat check.

Go for it dude!
I've often wondered when someone would dedicate a book on these guys, they've dedicated their lives to bringing us this awesome, inspiring and up-lifting music for many years now. Lives management would be crazy not to authorize it as it would be to their benefit.
It would also make us fans happy too!! happy.gif

All the best buddy!

Leigh.
