This may not seem all that special in other parts of the world, but for a long period of time (since "The Dolphin's Cry," really) Live had been all but invisible on the radio in Los Angeles. From time to time (once a month, maybe) a station or two might play "Lightning Crashes," but that was really it.

Lately, however, I've noticed a significant resurgence on L.A.'s biggest adult/contemporary station, Star 98.7 (KYSR). This is undoubtedly due, at least in part, to the band's appearance on American Idol (Ryan Seacrest got his start as a DJ on KYSR, and was still on the air for them for a decent amount of time after AI took off a few years back).

Not only has the station begun playing "Mystery" as part of its regular rotation, I have also heard, on more than one occasion, "Heaven" (quite a few times, actually), and "I Alone." Also, I just heard one of the promo spots between songs that includes Ed ("Hi this is Ed Kowalczyk from the band Live, you're listening to Star 98.7," or something to that effect).

Again, this may be commonplace in other places, but it comes as a bit of a shock in a place where Live has been all but dead for a long time now. I actually quite detest the radio, and have only started listening for the past week since my iPod car adapter busted, but it's surprisingly exciting for me to see Live becoming relevant again.

Has anyone experienced the same?

Yes, I live in LA and have noticed this. I keep hearing them on the radio in random places.

They never lost relevance in Phoenix. The DJs at KMXP are HUGE Live fans and get positive responses when they play a Live song. Usually they play Lightning Crashes, but Heaven and Run Away were big hits here, and they also play Selling The Drama and I Alone once in a while. I've also heard White, Discussion on KUPD here, which was surprising.

The only songs still played here in the MD/DC area are STD, All Over You, I Alone, and Lightning Crashes. If you are lucky you may here Pain Lies or Operation Spirit.

At a station pretty near where I live, I have heard quite a few songs. Insomnia and the Hole in the Universe, Heaven, She, What Are We Fighting For?, Selling the Drama, Lightning Crashes, I Alone, All Over You, Turn My Head, Sweet Release. They played at least one Live song a day. Too bad the reception is only within about a 5 mile radius. And there's no identification, like it is from some guy's basement...

The Detroit, 96.3 WDVD station is running a contest using Mystery, Live/Chris Daughtry.

Also, read on Idol forum that 101.1 The River in St. Louis is playing Mystery, Live/Chris Daughtry.
