QUOTE(dangum @ Aug 23 2024, 10:08 pm) *

What did you think?

I drove four hours for the show, and 3 1/2 back, getting home about 3 a.m. Was it worth it? Yes! Was it the best Līve concert I’ve been to? No!

Since I didn’t care for solo Ed material, and he never brought the TC anniversary tour to my area, I’d never seen him without CCP. Even though he’s better off without them, and I’m 100% okay with Ed carrying on with the Līve name, CCP’s absence felt very odd and made me sad.

Positives:
—It was good to see Zak all over the stage, being a rock star instead of standing to the back.
—Chris H. kind of looks like Chad Taylor, 😆 and it made me do a double take a few times… “Wait, Chad?”
—I LOVE the new song Lady Bhang and seeing it live was a real treat.
—Opening the set with Top was an awesome choice.
—I appreciated the other sorta deep cut in the set, Freaks,
—Crowd singing/participation in All Over You was pretty cool.
—Ed seemed really happy.
—Ed brought his voice!!! Honestly, his voice on Lady Bhang is the best he’s sounded in years, and overall he just sounds great.
—The new Līve merch is gorgeous and the t-shirt I purchased is a favorite.

Things not so positive (for lack of a better word):
—The setlist flew by and was over in a flash, leaving me wanting more. I get it… he’s opening up for STP, who are the bigger draw. But I’d love to see Ed/Līve tour smaller venues and play for 2 hours.
—STP hit the stage just oozing rock n’ roll; such cool factor. Ed, with current musicians, doesn’t have that. I can’t put my finger on why. Maybe it’s because I don’t know his new guys. Or, maybe it’s because I feel I’ve “known” Ed forever and he’s just a regular, normal dude from PA? As said, he did seem happy… except for that time he looked over side stage, pissed off at someone (tech or sound).
—Pillar of Davidson, Turn My Head and LC are one too many ballads. Consider replacing PoD and TMH with a faster song, like Stage, Operation Spirit, or hell, even Rattlesnake.
—I was really hoping DeLeo would join onstage for Lady Bhang, and he did not.

With all said, I’m looking forward to more new music and seeing more shows in the future. I love Ed and support him and his decisions for the band name.
