The quietest year musically for the members of Live is ending.
Let's hope for a better 2022 in Live land!

Wishing everyone a great 2022!

All we can do is hope, but it doesn’t look too promising because….
-No buzz about anything for Secret Samadhi’s 25th.
-No one but five of us here seem to care they have disappeared. Alternative rock journalists/podcasters don’t even care that there might be a story here. Everyone has forgotten about Līve and it’s their fault.
-When it comes to concert/virus protocol, I don’t think anything is going to change in 2022, so Līve isn’t going to tour unless they replace member(s). The members who still get along have to actually be talking to get that ball rolling. They don’t seem to be talking.
-Ed Kowalczyk is a missing person.
-Their management is ??? They don’t even seem to be managed, but how do you manage a band that doesn’t seem to exist.
-Nothing clicks with casual fans online, meaning, the band is irrelevant to the mainstream.

Not good for 2022, not good.

We have more hope with Ed and his solo stuff. Even though he’s a missing person.

Literally every update, reaction or response that the band would have given, was better than this weird silence. An update wouldn’t have to be detailed, complete or long, but even saying ‘we don’t have any plans for LIVE at this moment’ or ‘we’re reflecting on things and we’ll keep you updated next year’ was better.

You can’t update a fanbase with something like ‘now everything closed, we have finally time to write a full album again’ and after that go completely silent for almost two years.

It’s sad that I stopped caring as well. I come back here on New Years day 2023, who knows!

If you want to look for positives then you'd think 2022 surely can't be worse than a year of radio silence and an appearance on a hippy's weed podcast but I dunno; Live can surprise you.

After what we experienced back in 2010 with ugliness and division of the last split/hiatus, maybe the silence isn’t so bad. At least we don’t KNOW that the band is at odds internally at the moment and that we should all be fighting with each other over whether Chad T or Chad G is in the wrong.

Ideally I’d love some new music from Live this year, even if it’s not Throwing Copper, or even Birds of Pray, level good just to have something to listen to and talk about. But I’ve got a feeling we’ll continue to hear nothing from Live land in 2022, but will probably get something from Ed.

No idea but at this point if they can't do better than Local 717, I would rather have an Ed solo album than a Live album which is really just an Ed solo album with CCP in the background. I don't even like Ed's solo work, but at least that is honest.

People have forgotten about Live because they were never that flashy of a band to begin with. There were never any notable headlines with them like drug issues (ODs), partying, or scandals. It was always about the music and they all seemed like decent blue collar guys banking some success.

But even when something scandalous came around it was lame, silly squabbling over who deserved more money or who the actual songwriters were. It was an internal scandal that mostly just affected the guys in the band, not many people outside the band.

Then they split, which didn't really cause any waves because at the time people had already stopped caring about the band as it had been 6 years since they'd released an album that even remotely resembled who the band was at their peak.

Then they hooked up with a singer that the vast majority of people never even knew existed and, for most intents & purposes, still don't know exists. And the only evidence that proves he did/does exist they completely erased from their back catalogue.

Then they got back together with Ed and promptly did nothing but tour on nostalgia and radio hits.

Then they released an EP that was... not Live.

Then covid.

Then the black maw of nothingness.

If Live were to return in 2022 to do anything beyond raise up off the couch slightly to fart it'd be like Jesus rolling the stone away and walking out of the tomb. Until convinced otherwise I have to believe the band is 100% dead.

THIS!! ^^^
You hit the nail on the head with aaalll of this. Was always proud that Līve was a group of four, decent guys who didn’t get riddled with drug addiction and scandal, but you are so right… sorta sadly, it’s one of the reasons barely no one knows who they are.
Additionally, your last paragraph made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that. Needed that today.

Farts... the endless supply of joy, laughter, and relief.

Some may say that the recent legal stuff with Think Loud and Hynes, etc, etc. is grounds for scandal, but none of that is about the band. It's about the extracurricular activities of the guys in the band trying to be big business tycoons building generational wealth. Not that there's anything at all wrong with that in and of itself, unless their methods were unethical or illegal.

The only way it would be a scandal involving the band is if they used the band... as an entity... to funnel those activities through. But even then it's not a "sexy" headline. That would be more of a cringe-embarrassing headline.

When thinking about 2022, the stark differences between these two IG posts of past touring partners is SAD. Chad Gracey’s hashtags, in which he “hates,” speak clearly. Sucks to be a Līve fan right now.
