Live Are Huge INXS Fans And May Cover INXS On Their Australian Tour

by Paul Cashmere on November 19, 2019

Ed Kowalczyk of Live says that one of his bands favourite bands is INXS and that they might even work an INXS song into their Australian set in 2020.

“I tell you what, you will not find any bigger INXS fans than Live,” Ed tells Noise11.com. “INXS was a huge influence on us. When I go back to when we were in high school, we listened to INXS all the time”.

The current Live set features covers of songs from R.E.M. and The Rolling Stones. “We are doing a couple of covers that are fun”, Ed says. “R.E.M.’s ‘Losing My Religion’, I have always adored that song. I think it is one of the most amazing songs ever. It is beautifully written. I love the mandolin. I have become friends with Peter Buck, so it’s for Peter. We also do ‘Paint It Black’. It’s got that dark, Indian melody line. We make it our own. I think it surprises people we picked those because of where they land in history but they were really influential for us. We might come up with another one for the Australia tour”.

I loved INXS, too. Got a lot of flack back in the day from my metal head friends for that, but INXS was such a great band.

In fact, if Līve just has to cover a song, I suggested in a cover songs thread here, that they cover INXS’ “Don’t Change.” Hope they read that. thumbsup.gif

My money is on them choosing something safe, like Never Tear Us Apart.

I've moved the conversation about Bill Hynes into the dedicated thread.

Continue here: Live in the press - Bill Hynes charges

Please use this thread to discuss the possible INXS cover.

Can you please move my dancing bananas post then? That was directed toward the joke about Hynes.
