Setlist:
All Over You
Selling the Drama
Losing My Religion (REM cover)
Beauty of Gray
Shit Towne
Paint it Black (Rolling Stones cover)
Lakini's Juice
I Alone
Operation Spirit
White, Discussion
Lightning Crashes

I'm exhausted, so I'll just cover the highlights:

- I really enjoyed OLP and Bush. They kicked ass. Gavin jumped into the stands right in front of me, which was pretty sweet. He's quite the active frontman. I dig it.

- A decent chunk of people left after Bush, but the remaining crowd was into it, and there were more Live fans than I expected.

- Right before Live started, CT was dancing by the side of the stage as "Gimme Shelter" was playing and it was so adorable I can't even. I couldn't get video of it, but it was glorious to watch.

- I was *so excited* at the potential to hear Rattlesnake to start the set and *so pissed* when they went into AOY. They didn't play The Distance or PLOTR either, but we got BOG and ST, so it's the same as the Vegas and UT shows.

- The sound sucked. CT's guitar was too loud in parts (they fixed it eventually), half of Gracey's drums were too quiet, and Zak's guitar was barely audible, which sucked when he soloed in Shit Towne.

- I thought it was cool that CT, Ed and Zak all soloed in Shit Towne.

- CT did the Voodoo Child intro at the end of W,D. That was neat, and barely noticeable.

- Showare holds ~6,500 people and it was maybe half full. The floor seats were mostly full, but the stands were pretty empty. The active crowd made up for the lack of quantity though.

- Still pissed about Rattlesnake and The Distance.

Hi Bob! I enjoyed reading your review, especially this part, because those little things are glorious to me, too...

Glad you seemed to enjoy for the most part.

So, is it fair to say that you, a diehard Live fan, really liked the other bands, then most people left, and you sorta liked but were disappointed in Live, and the highlight of the show was a 50 year old man dancing on the side of the stage?

I was going to wait for OP, but I’m going to go ahead and jump in. As I previously said, I get it. It’s actually a bonafide psychological thing. Some people are more visual, and enjoy small details like that at a deeper level. It also has to do with empathy and the ability to absorb the feelings of others. Some personality types are also fascinated by people, people watching, and what makes others tick. Some personality types enjoy music at deeper level and have a stronger connection to it. That again has to with empaths, feelers, dreamers. Go ahead and make fun of my response Ex. Throw in your dancing banana if you will, but it will just show ignorance on the subject. No offense.

In a word, yes. We've seen the same setlist for just about the entire tour, heard the same Ed-isms for years, and seen the same antics onstage, and it was nice to see, even for a brief moment, that they're human and can let their proverbial hair down for a minute, even if that wasn't meant to be seen by anyone other than the crew and the band. It wasn't just some random 50 year old man dancing on the side of the stage, it was Chad Taylor. He's still got some soul in there, and I'd like to see it more often. It doesn't come out nearly enough.

I really didn't want to go to the show last night (it was 80/20 my wife and me), and Live did disappoint me to a pretty large degree, but overall, I enjoyed myself. Truth be told, I really think Bush outplayed Live. Gavin was all over the place, interacting with the crowd all the time, the bass player and guitarist were doing their best to do the same, and the drummer just about punched holes through his drums he was playing so hard. They rocked it. They really do put on a good show.

I 1000000000% agree with this. Thank you.

I get it, and to merely say I’m not ignorant on the subject is the understatement of the year but I’ll leave it at that. My point is that while this is all well and good, you can get the same experience for free people watching at the mall, and should expect to have a much better experience from your favorite band’s concert.
