We all want an awesome long setlist full of deeper cuts.

Live wants a basic shorter setlist that appeals to the masses.

Are they necessarily fully mutually exclusive or is there not some common ground?

Here’s my suggestion, all things considered; what are yours?

1. AOY
2. Top OR Stage
3. I Alone
4. Shit Towne
5. Operation Spirit OR PLOTR OR BOG
6. STD
7. HMU OR Brother
8. TDC
9. Iris OR TBD OR POD OR GHGW
10. LC

11. TDAOC OR song not played in slot 2 OR HPD OR skip to 12 if tired
12. LJ
13. WD

Here’s one I posted once before in a different thread. I think it’s very reasonable.

Setlist of champions:

DAOC
All Over You
Brother
STD
Shit Towne
Iris
Dolphins Cry
Operation Spirit
Lakini’s
I Alone
10,000 Years, Peace Is Now

Yea.

If cutting to 13 songs, drop 10,000 Years, Peace Is Now.

That is extremely reasonable and I'd be very happy with that setlist.

You piss on their setlist constantly but you lost me at #1. IMO they should open with Operation Spirit, DAOC, Rattlesnake, or Simple Creed.

If I never hear Brother again I'm good.

The point is not to make your dream setlist, but one that satisfies all interests.

I would be happy with the setlist I posted, and I would bet that the masses would be too.

I like those songs as openers, but I do think given the band's relative obscurity nowadays and playing to the masses there needs to be a bigger hit to kick things off and AOY does fit the bill nicely.

It is interesting that we chose such similar songs albeit in a different order. Great Live fans think alike!

I gotta say, I think these setlists that you guys have listed are perfectly reasonable. I’m seeing them doing a headlining club show in two weeks and I really hope they at least add something unexpected. I just can’t believe we didn’t get a single MJ song on this tour! I mean, Jesus, where is Pain Lies?! Operation Spirit?! Give me something! I am extremely frustrated at this point.

Yes, nothing was ever personal, though often taken that way. Now that everyone else not bankrolled by the band readily admits how pathetic they are, there is much less offense taken to my posts.

I think, aside from the fact that they neglect a good portion of TC including their “new” single on its big anniversary tour, the most egregious oversight is not playing The Beauty of Gray (and again, this is a compromise, assuming songs like Brothers Unaware or Mirror Song are just not happening) at a time when tension especially racial seems to be at a relative high.

Funny that you mention Mirror Song. We got that two years ago in Allentown along with The Beauty of Gray, Operation Spirit and Pain Lies! Didn’t realize at the time how special that was I guess.

I think 10,000 Years, Peace Is Now is the most relevant, and after they didn’t play it at the NYE York reunion show, I knew to stop wishing for it. Now, Ed has that spiel every night about the times we are living in, and sending Lightning Crashes out as a prayer... can you imagine if one night they’d replace Heaven with 10,000, and he’d send it out as a prayer? The world is burning down, can’t you smell the smoke in the air?” Oh my God, if they’d just play that perfect song at this time, I’d bawl my eyes out. Guess I’m still wishing for it, tbh.

I think the best we can hope for is a new version with different lyrics, starting with “I somehow squandered tens of millions, can I please play Heaven for you now?” facepalm.gif

Agreed! These songs are so relevant right now! Why as an artist would you not just be dying to play them?! It makes me absolutely mental!!
