Security is very strict at most venues in Pittsburgh, I ditched my normal rig and tried out Shure's MV88 with an iPhone. It turned out pretty good.

I recorded Bush and OLP too. I'll post them to DIME soon.

Thanks Brian. The mic sounds great. Why are venues so anal about people bringing in recording gear? Do they think you're going to choke someone out with the mic cables?

Bands, promoters, venues and record labels need to realise that almost anybody can record a show these days - all the equipment you need fits in your pocket and you can get an acceptable result . Just let it go, allow the audience to bring in anything they want and allow music to flow freely around the world.

You would think that bands could see their shows are being shared and would want to make each one special; yet some don't get it and think they can dish out the same cookie cutter show night after night after night. You might have got away with it 20 years ago when it used to take effort to get in a venue and record a show. These days everybody with the phones are recording the whole show and uploading to YouTube for the world to see. No surprises anymore. If you want to engage your fanbase then you need to make an effort. Do you know how it feels to see the exact same show, with the exact same setlist, exact same banter and exact same 'improvs' (Note: it's not an improv if it's done at every show).
