Seriously horrible white guy dancing alert at 10:16.

I cannot even begin to understand why they choose to spend 10 minutes doing that versus playing another new song and a deep track. Totally inexplicable.

.... and then follow it up with 2 solo acoustic solo songs in the encore.

I thought Ed said in an earlier interview that if they really pressed they could get 16 songs in.

As a paying customer going to see a 70 minute set I'd rather see no extended jams, no going off stage to set up an encore and no solo acoustic songs.

Cram in as many full band songs as possible!

Band is getting great reviews for this tour. Excited to see it myself later this week.

The song is over in 5. The clip posted is of the cover, and The Distance.

He did say that and it’s sorta messed up that he did and got hopes up. When you do the math, it’s impossible to squeeze 16 in 70 minutes. Most of their songs average 4 minutes. White Discussion, Lakini’s Juice and Lightning Crashes are all 5 min. plus. Face it, there has to be some crowd interaction. If not, it would be a horrible performance. So, with the stage rap that he has to do, give each song 5 minutes, really. 5 x 14 = 70 minutes. The most he should have ever promised is 14.

Ed must be really bad at math.

I know, I watched the whole thing. An extended version of The Distance should not be a top priority of the setlist either. It’s not one of their best songs, not a deep track because they’ve played it on several ECCP and Ed solo tours, and it’s not a hit to excite the casual fans. Makes no sense to take up 7 minutes of limited time to dedicate to the distance. They really should be playing a deep track or new song or both during that same time period.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of The Distance but not the 7 minute version that prohibits time for other songs that I much rather hear.

Agreed. Like, Hold Me Up being 3 minutes. Then they could have played that new song they leaked on Instagram.

I think they are trying to give the impression of playing like a jam band. It’s not a jam band song if you play the same exact version of the same song every night. There is no improvisation.

I think Hold Me Up will be performed next year for the 25th.

Think so? I'd love it, but I haven't heard of any Mental Jewelry outtakes performed since the re-release. Not that they've really played any of those much anyway. I could totally do with the setlist from Biloxi, but with Heaven Wore a Shirt instead of Heaven. At least in Detroit, please... whistle.gif

Even better would be... release the damn thing already.

If the studio version doesn’t show up in 2019, I give up hope.

I think we need to start a petition, Chad T was really helpfull last time we all wrote a letter together lol.gif

The band have performed Hold Me Up before, I think it will come back. I could even see it released as a single.

That’s one way, but honestly, even if they just played another regular song I’d prefer it. Doesn’t have to be new or a deep track. I don’t need 3 minutes of the crowd saying “sweeter”.

I vaguely remember a petition on the mvdblive site. It was a collection of outtakes and B-sides, or something, right?
