For those who believed that The Turn should not have been considered a Live album, should the current lineup- which consists of a second drummer and a new guitarist that both plays lead and contributes to the writing process- also not be considered Live? I am just interested in others' views on this. Granted all four original members are together again, but with the new cast it feels more like Live 2.0. Maybe they could rename themselves Living smile.gif

Having the original lead singer is a much bigger factor than adding 2 musicians

I agree generally speaking, however, to play devil's advocate:
1. CCP was the original three
2. Several other bands throughout history have ousted their lead singer and kept their name
3. At least one of the new musicians added has, at least so far, contributed greatly to the new style and writing process

I personally do not care. I still consider them Live, but the Turn - with CCP rocking it out and Shinn singing passionately and with some grit- is just as much Live. It was definitely more Live, with CCPs' contribution, than SFBM was....which was basically an Ed solo album with Live's name branded on it. Again, just my opinion.

Remember the source on the two takes info?

Edit: Found the source, it's in the other thread on a recent radio interview. Bremang is right, they are phoning it in to collect the $$$

Oh now some of you are finally coming to the consensus that they are doing things half assed instead whole assed? I’ve been trying to point this out with most decisions since the reunion. facepalm.gif

This has been an incredibly half-assed reunion, no way to argue that. Very disappointing and insulting to the true fans

All it makes me think is that Chad T. is full of shit.

He made such a point how BOP and SFBM lacked the band's input, that SFBM was basically Ed's album and they were backup musicians, that whole thing.

Then they mount a comeback and he's got new band members and someone else writing the music. I guess having input in the material wasn't that important to him after all.

And let me add...why the hell does any band need a second drummer??

Reminds me of when Ed would put Gracy in a glass cage. Just seems Ed is going out of his way to disrespect him.

Cause at the end of the day it's all about the music, not any of that other social media bullshit. Live was great before the internet.

Those plexi enclosures are used for sound control, especially in smaller venues, it’s not disrespectful. And it would be the sound engineer that did it most likely, not Ed. Calling it a “glass cage” is just what anti-Ed people say.

However, ironically, two drummers accomplishes the opposite effect, as the plexi is used when a drummer hits too har/is too loud. Two drummers with no plexi means the drums will sound even heavier.

Except CG was taunting Ed saying he no longer needed to be behind glass so that his drumming would not hurt Ed's widdle ears, or something
but i agree with you, it doesn't make any sense to hate on the plexiglass. more fodder for the staged breakup conspiracy theory.

Have you forgotten about Michael Railton? He toured from 1999 - 2002 and received writing credits on 2 Live albums (TDTH and V). Would you consider that Live 2.0? In my opinion it wasn't version 2.0 - it's not uncommon for bands to receive outside contributions during the writing or recording process, be it from a producer or another musican.

Don't forget that for The Turn, the band had Jerry Harrison providing substantial input, Bruce Wallace writing some lyrics and Jerry's daughter on backing vocals too.

1. CCP was the original three

You would never have heard of CCP if they had remained that way. How many bands without a singer have got a record deal, sold 20 million albums, toured the world, still making music after 30+ years? Yeah, not many.

I find it puzzling that Chad Gracey would have a problem with the plexiglass, yet be fine with another drummer playing his parts at the same time. Totally understand why it was done while Chad had an injured shoulder but to continue on when Chad is back at 100%? Strange.

Also the fact tat Robin Diaz can learn 20+ songs in a couple of months yet the band can't find the time to pull out a few tracks from the vault to perform is a mockery of what is it to be a band. Sounds like Live's new 'members' are more competent than their counterparts.
