mystery #80 on top 100 songs, though. its too bad all these fans will hear live's weakest effort to date. even though im in the US, i got the album from overseas...maybe it hasnt grown on me, but i dont even think its as good as BOP. i made my gf a CD of live songs since we went to the concert 2 weeks ago....making it reminded me how these guys used to have rock songs....

i hate bashing the band, but new album is just live light. then again, i enjoy V, so i could be wrong. but hey, im happy the band is at #5 smile.gif

To each his own.......... I like all of Live's works to date. As they've matured, to recording the music they did for their latest release, so have I matured. As a result, I honestly think I like this cd as much and maybe more than the others they've done. It's different for them, but I listen to it repeatedly, and with the exception of a song or two, enjoy it very much.

i like it, too, but i do like most of their older stuff better. having said that, i am happy that their sound changes on every album. it does help me from getting burned out on them. versatility is their strength!

Like Rush, they evolve and continue to grow. The more they change, they more they stay the same. Each album is unique, yet undeniably LiVE. After many listens to SFBM, I have grown to love it quite a lot. A rock mix would be better, though, IMO. It just doesn't have that goosebumpy edge their other albums have.

Anyway, that's cool that our band is likely to have a big album on their hands. New fans will buy their other albums too, and be able to plug into the greatness that is LiVE.

I don't listen to crappy music. I just don't. I have complete or large collections of Rush, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead/JGB, Yes, Jefferson Airplane, Van Morrison, Laurie Anderson, Jimi Hendrix, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Seal, The Mars Volta and Bela Bartok. For fifteen years I have had two favourite working bands, Rush and LiVE. LiVE is young yet. Rush shows no sign of retiring. However, I have always felt that LiVE was heir to the throne that Rush has occupied for three decades.

Well said. Can't stand how many bitch about how they used to be all rock. Lighting Crashes is a pop song and by far their most popular. They have changed, or are some of you still in 1995.

Considering Lightning Crashes is played on pop radio in America... it just might be.

Excellent, excellent post. Genres are subjective, but if BOP and SFBM are pop, Lightning Crashes is too. Personally I prefer not to categorize my music beyond "shitty" and "not shitty". Live is not shitty.

Songs from Black Mountain dropped to #6 and Mystery dropped to #82. I hope it can hold on until the CD comes out. Mystery starts going for adds today, let's hope it really picks up.

Lightning Crashes is definately pop but can be considered pop rock. I posted a definition of pop on this site before and LC fits it perfectly. A 3 to 4 minute song with a catchy repetitive chorus. Extremely radio friendly. LC is most definately pop.

This should really tell us alot about the single's potential, with it going for adds today. Do we know all the stations picking it up?
