which video for a live song didn't live upto th song, (probably all of them ) but most of them hve their own charm and deliver siome kind of energy to its audience. but for me i found thaty a song as epic as Lightning Crashes was accompanied by a VIDEO tha really failed to convey the power and emotion of its text. i wanted to actuially SEE the forces pulling from the ceter of the earth again, and the lighting crashing and such. // . if i had a coupla millionj bucks I'd gather the guys together and shoot that shit again and make it for real so it could live on for ages like the song will ...!!

must elaborate, i remember playiing the awake dvd and had a few norwegian friends over from norway and hey were like oh man thats the dolphin song, and they specifically went on and on about the dolphins cry vid and the water and how powerful it was for them. and i remember myself seeing the video for "freaks"for the firts time and feeling how creepy it was which means it was effective. like some videos work well and stick in the memory ... and some.... the song is more than the video

I like all of their videos, but i think the "Run to the Water" Video is too similar to "The Dolphin's Cry" Video.

The Dolphins Cry. The song was big enough but removed Live from their height in the mainstream because the video was crap.

Gotta agree with you there, thats about when Live started the mainstream decline. Of course all of us hardcore fans still stuck around.

Can't say I disagree more. Had nothing to do with the video. Ed singing about Dolphins, and most people not understanding the symbolism of what he was talking about, was what turned a lot of people off on that album. Still, TDTH did alright. V is what did them in. Honestly though, there was nothing afterwards anyway.

Lyrically there was plenty of pop sensibility despite the dolphin reference. Potential was there. After the video was debuted it got no mtv airplay in the US because it was the TRL era. That stupid TRL countdown meant everything. The song was still doing well on radio after the video debut. Live couldn't get that extra push because they happened to make their worst video to date with TDC.

I'd say it was on the decline of TRL and had nothing to do with it. It was the song, not the video. I'll agree to disagree.

1999 was the absolute height of trl. But whatever the case, I just don't like the TDC video. The SS videos were sweet and TDC blew in comparison

Secret Samadhi was a pinnacle for them in terms of art. Everything from the music, to the lyrics and the videos. It's hard for me to compare any of their following material to that. TDC was a great single, but the video was indeed a bit lame. It was all downhill from there.
