That is a 5500 seat theater. That is way too big for Live even with Ed.

It's a 5500 seat venue depending on how its setup. It can be setup as a fully GA floor with just seats in the balcony much like the HOB.

Fully GA would mean an even greater capacity.

With a heavily promoted and marketed album release, I could see Live making a big splash. Shinn has a big bank roll to make it happen. Does that sting or what?

It's a lot, and since the tickets are a bit expensive I doubt they can fill it, but I like how they will try to make things happen. It's risky for sure!

We'll see how good that first single is. They need a smash hit.

It is very hard to get a smash crossover hit without a label backing you. I could see their new single getting played on rock/alternative radio if Shinn is backing them financially.

If the single is awesome, like Lakini's Juice, I alone, it should get played. If it is mediocre, like World, it shouldn't.

Why crossover? They belong in one spot...Rock.

World mediocre? Very severe judgement...it is not a potential number 1 hit I agree, but still very enjoyable.

We live in a different time now. The 90s was set for alt-rock to be mainstream. That combined with how the music industry operated, music like Live's was able to reach "smash hit" status quickly.

I don't think that is possible anymore, no matter how good it is. In fact, the better the music is (see Secret Samadhi), the less likely it is to be well received by the masses. If you recall, most critics ripped apart Samadhi, and it didn't really get anywhere near the attention that Throwing Copper did (and still does). Still, I consider it a far superior album.

I just hope they put out a solid, and interesting album. Any notions that they will put out top-charting hits and reach the fame they did in the mid-1990s is just delusional. Even if they released "I Alone" now, it wouldn't gain a fraction of the attention that it did in 1994. They shouldn't be striving for that acclaim - and I don't think they are.

my 2 cents

Well then, I wonder what effect an awesome single could have on Live's ability to fill 5500 seats.
