Ed Kowalczyk is playing Stage One in Fairfield CT, on Saturday January 19th. Tickets are on sale now. Dan would you be able to combine this thread with the Bay Shore and Englewood thread?

I have moved the conversation regarding the marketing of Ed into the appropriate thread:
Deceptive marketing of Ed Kowalczyk

I think it's better to have each concert date in a separate thread.

I wanted to say that 'Seven' is one of the best songs I have heard probably since crying time or Alter Bridge's wonderful life about loss.

It's a wonderful song in any context not just a LiVe one - the best I've heard Ed write since TDTH with the exception maybe of Heaven.

I get the feeling it's about Ed losing LiVe but I will leave that for you all to debate. Killer song, epic bridge sung with passion.

I wish we could get a full version of Angel on a Razor.

What is the other voice singing in the chorus of seven? Effect from the microphone? If so it's a shame. In seven he uses the same chord progression he uses in alot of songs. (ex: drink, heaven, and others). Sadly, and I mean it, cause I want this guy to find his balls again, but these songs are generic and boring. Will give a try to Angel... when it will be available.

I think the other voice is that bass player who is with Ed and visible at end of video.

There are only so many chord progressions alexou I'm sure if u play like I do you will appreciate this. I think it's the dolphin s cry intro that Ed has recycled here not drink which like everytime I see your face and others.

Having said that I stop short of callin the song seven generic - it is a unique rhythm in the bridge for Ed definitely and the melody & vibe is unlike most pop music. Which I imagine is the genre Ed is aiming at...in any case I enjoyed the song. Not fussed on the whistling and for Ed I think all I wanted sounded similar to some others more so then seven.

@hoodie ...man I loved the DMB song as well! Js thought I'd add that.

@sjn how could u possibly prefer razor on a 47 second clip ? That doesn't make sense to me - why not foster discussion by commenting on the songs you heard in full like I tried to do ? Anyway I am glad someone is releasing new music.

Sorry to u both for double post!

I attended Ed's shows in NJ and CT, and "Angels on a Razor" was a definite highlight for me both nights.

Oh, ok cool!

Tell us about it then ??

Was it heavy ? Poppy ?? Falsetto ?? Backing vox? Minor key ? Penny whistles ?

I believe you man but I got to say if you big fan of Ed and seen the song live surely you must have some opinion other then it's good and should be a single.

Ed hasn't been to Australia in couple years. Igot no idea what the new songs sound like only you tube and fan feedback.

Thanks,

Drink is not related to Everytime I see your face in any way...IMHO.

I agree that sometimes Ed goes outside of usual pop, but like you said only for bridges. I find the verses and most of the choruses of his songs bland and generic. (Ex: Garden). I'm the proof was a nice effort going a bit out of the box. Liked it.

I also think that it is difficult for Ed to be original because he is not a very good musician. He probably doesn't know that much about music theory so he is stuck with minor chords progressions for the most part. Some musicians are doing their whole career with it and that's fine, but with all the songs he write most of it has references with what he did in the past.

Thanks,

On memory it was poppy. Catchy lyrics and melody. Uplifting message.

Drink and ETISYF have the same descending chord progression drinks chorus an everytimes verses. Same pattern at least...

You are right tho its like heaven and Drink in the minor/major into verse..dolphins cry too. Having said that all artists long term re-use chords n progressions.

I very much enjoy seven. The bridge in mystery is very good too - love the drums...

End of day...very little compares to "He was a rock n roll messiah, she was known for her child care - the truth is gonna give up the world if you can give up the stage..."

Epic CD throwing copper.
