We learn three thing from this article:

1.). Ed is still being referred to as "Live Frontman".

2.) Nobody showed up to Ed's concert (the weather must have been really hot)

3.). Ed plays almost entirely Live songs and not his songs from that new chapter and he was starting 3 years ago.

It actually was a really positive review. I believe only a few hundred people showed, but Ed still performed his ass off(Ed played a good mix of LIVE and new material to refute #3):

Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk goes solo in Lockport

Ed Kowalczyk
July 16, 2012
By: David Hens

If Live frontman Ed Kowalczyk plays a free show in Lockport and hardly anyone turns out to see it, does it really happen?

The answer is yes, and all I can say is that people missed out on an inspired evening of music from one of 1990s alt-rock’s most reflective voices.

He took the fans on a journey through Live’s greatest hits as well as selections from his solo work that were just dying for an audience, and, more importantly, he was appreciative of those who stuck around long enough to make him feel welcome.

Quality always trumps quantity in my mind, so the rabid supporters who sang along and showered the band with applause made up for the fact that the rest of Western New York appeared to have better things to do.

Kowalczyk felt the love so much that the encore nearly eclipsed the set’s length on its own, as the band continued to audible well past the point at which most artists would pack it in. Friday night was simply about soaking up the music and people coming together as one.

“All Over You” set the tone early with its crunching guitar dynamic, but the lesser known tunes proved to be where the moments of excellence originated. “I’m the Proof” wowed with its earnest inspiration, “The Beauty of Grey” turned heads with its vocal tenderness, and “Heaven” was just stunning through and through.

It’s difficult to find one second of the evening that failed to bring a smile to my face, because everyone was having such a grand time channeling the 1994 version of themselves.

Highlights from the classic portion included “The Dolphin’s Cry,” “I Alone,” and a riveting solo rendition of “Turn My Head” on which Kowalczyk really hit his stride.

When “Lightning Crashes” arrived, the gathered had already succumbed to Kowalczyk’s musical graces, so it would’ve been impossible to lose them by then.

Because former Triumph guitarist Rik Emmett initially held this slot until a venue change, I think the detractors disregarded Kowalczyk when news of the switch came, and that’s ok.

He did just fine without them.

Changing your tune now I see?

Seeing it for reality sake?

Been told the lay of the land and digested it?

You're spinning into oblivion!!

Ed should be sued for that terrible jacket and awful stare. I can see that being a good look if his show didn't involve pelvic thrusts, that terrible "I'm so cool" strut, and giant grins.

Never heard of either of the bands. Surely, not many people would turn up specifically to see "Screaming Jeans" and "McCarthyizm"

i agree but the concert was free and it's summertime. Any good size US population center can draw those numbers for a summer free event such as a concert series.
