It's actually pretty good, I thought. Musically speaking. Better than Zeitgeist for sure. Reminds me of Zwan a little bit.

I've listened to the stream several times. I can't figure it out. Sometimes I seem to like it other times I'm not into it much. And I like the shoe gaze influences. It just doesn't seem to hit me and stay with me like early pumpkins. Haven't decided if I'm going to buy it or see them when they come around.

I know what you're saying. The music doesn't grab hold of you the way the early stuff did, but there are some songs on there I really like. Pinwheels is one of them. I love the way the song flows and those chord changes are ethereal. I also really dig The Chimera and Glissandra.

I think it's a case of "give it a few more listens and I'll start to get it".

I like those songs too. As an overall album it's probably better than their last several releases. In that sense BC accomplished what he set out to by focusing on the album as the listening experience. I'm not sure if that affected his writing style on a song by song basis but it's lacking a catchy tune that can stick in your head. Even Zeitgeist had "That's the Way (My Love is) which is a pretty good song.

I don't know... Machina I and II were both pretty good. Although I wish Machina II had been given the same treatment than I was.

I'm just not a fan of the way BC has gone about releasing this 44-song epic or whatever it is he's trying to do. It's really disjointed and directionless to me. I think he thought it would be more successful than it was and decided to release a bunch of the songs in a traditional album format when he saw that it wasn't. He really should've just released all of them in that format, IMO.

As much as I hate to say this, especially on a forum where I'd say give the new guy a chance, I really miss Jimmy Chamberlin in the Pumpkins. Dude is just nuts. Recent drum clinic footage below.
