Yeah, I was in a hurry when I found the video so I only watched the first 10 minutes (which only covered Candlebox). If I had watched the entire thing I would have posted a link to the video in the "Live Central" forum.

Thanks to themaestro for informing us about the Live related topics and to FishOutaWater for providing a summary of it.

Is it just that the krazy chiks are the only females hanging around in the rock scene? I mean, I know normal women probably want normal guys with normal jobs and for them to be around more than a musician would be, but surely there must be normal women out there who are at least semi-understanding of the nature of a musicians job.

Or is that just a musician's pipe dream?

What's eating you about that? That was about as "I'm running for president" as you're going to get. I'm surprised he was as forthright as he was about the basic facts of what was going on.

I simply am stopping getting the whole situation.

You know, from some point of view his words towards CCP could really sound pretty offensive. As if Ed is working his ass off and those fat bastards are doing nothing.

Actually, I always saw it another way: if you rock and sweat is falling onto your guitar - then you are working. If you sing about birds and gods, you call it inspiration and jump across the stage with a smile.

I am not saying a true rocknrolla does not need an inspiration, but I hope you get what I am at.

Ok, then he says he keeps telling them to get back together. Wasn't there a story about Kevin being dropped out of Live's backstage in 2008? Or is he now all about serenity and forgivefullness (or whatever the right term should be)?

I dunno. I remember the fury of the early TGF gigs with The Few and "Fuck plexiglass" stuff... and now...

Yes, the casual fan would be definitely glad to see Ed back fronting Live etc. I know that back together they would be ready to at least TRY get their fame and money back and be more successful than being EdKo and the Ramys and Live with Shinn. Sure.

But do you want that? Does Fish want that? Do Funky, Z or OTD want that? Do I want it?

During the last 3 years I got used to living with a thought that Ed is no longer a part of what once was the best thing in the universe for me (sometimes more than my family, and I ain't kidding) and now do I have to weigh it all again and maybe fucking forgive the man, whom I can not stand to listen to anymore simplybecause I respect and love Kevin Martin?

I think, I read Fish perfectly well. Just like me, he is lost. I know, we make only 2 people in dozens of thousands who spin Live every now and then.

And I can say, fuck it, if we are out of it (for example) noone losing.

=However, on the other hand with all those mysteries about what is going on and getting tired of waiting, I can say, that losing some of the diehards would be plenty BAD.

Or maybe it is just my ill mind and icky, mauldin heart talking...

At times it does look like CCP are taking their time about things. Maybe even too much time. Maybe they've got a lot of hurdles to jump. Maybe they're not the most organized people in general. Maybe they're not as narcissistically-ambitious as others. Maybe it takes more than it should to motivate them. Maybe they just have too many irons in the fire. Or maybe KM was just referring to the differing natures of Ed compared to CCP and it wasn't meant to be taken as derogatory either way.

Don't read into his statements what isn't there. Unless he explicitly says "CCP are lazy asses" then you shouldn't assume that's what he's saying. There's a saying I've heard since I was a kid that: "When you assume you run the risk of making an ass out of u and me. (ass+u+me)."

Sure, I know what you're saying. But I don't think KM was attacking CCP's work ethic. But I'm not assuming he wasn't either, so who knows?

I'd have to defer to someone else. I don't know anything about that.

Personally, I don't want to see Ed fronting Live at this point, if for no other reason than they've already picked up the torch with Chris Shinn and are (as far as anyone knows) working toward releasing an album with him. Unless there's an understanding between Chris and CCP regarding Ed and a possibility of him rejoining the band, I don't think it would be fair to Chris to just chuck him aside if Ed were to suddenly start wanting back in.

If CS+CCP as Live isn't working out or doesn't work out and CCP and Ed can agree to get back on the same creative page and all their personal differences are worked out... then so be it. But I suspect that there are way too many ifs in those differences.

I totally get fans emotional connection to the band and to what happened between Ed and CCP. But let's be clear here: what happened between Ed and CCP, not between them and everyone else. Hurt as the fans may be over what Ed did, he didn't do it to *them*. They were just part of the collateral damage of what happened.

If CCP and Ed did get back together as Live, and I'm assuming for that to happen those personal issues would have to be resolved, that would mean that CCP and Ed are on good personal terms. Bygones have been allowed to be bygones. Who would any fan be not to also let bygones be bygones?

Just to pull from my own tiny bit of personal experience, I was playing in a band with a couple guys a while back. I thought we had a pretty decent musical chemistry, and we still would if we were playing together. But as it so often does, typical rock n' roll bullshit got in the way and now I'm not really on speaking terms with one of the guys. If things were ever resolved between us then I'd be fine with that and I'm open to that, but there would need to be a lot of ownership of some bullshit by one of them (and maybe some by myself and the other guy as well) and as it stands I'm perfectly fine with looking for other opportunities... even if it takes forever.

There is life outside of Live. There's a whole world of music out there. If Live were to completely cease to be then of course it would suck, but the world will continue to turn and we'll all be OK.

Huh?

Nevermind... I got it. lol. Thanks. The "POD" thing threw me because whenever I see POD I think of the band P.O.D. And then the karma thing threw me.
