He's stating he's retiring in 2014.

Pokey, what the down low?

I think the Mozz has stated it so many times even his lover in Rome is tired.

This isn't anything new, he said that a few years ago that he'd not go past 55 which makes it 2014, but I'll honestly believe it when it happens. Literally after every single tour the rumours start dating back to the late 80s when he finished the last gig of a tour and while crying said "there are goodbyes and there are farewells, this is farewell". Fast forward over 20yrs later and it hasn't happened.

It's interesting because he's said a few times that he is writing an autobiography and I would assume when that comes out that it would be close to the end. I do believe that when he does pull the pin he'll do it for good, heaven and earth can't make him do anything he doesn't want to. The amount of money and oppertunities he's had to reform the Smiths and he's turned it down again and again makes you think he is set to do things his way. But he likes to keep the mystique and keep people guessing so until he says "that's it, I'm done", then I take everything with a grain of salt as a ploy on his part.

He's still without a record deal and so has all this material frustratingly ready to go but he refuses to DIY and I don't so much believe that he "can't find" a deal and that "nobody wants him" so much as probably money was on the table for him to take but he probably didn't like the guy's tie and so he turned it down. He's a diva.

So I'm not fussed really, these rumours are a dime a dozen in Moz land, just some happen to catch mainstream media more than others.

Dimi who's his lover in Rome?

What I am more upset about is probably my equally favorite band with Moz, Ween have just broken up. It was on the cards for awhile I guess but still very sad.

Gene Ween (Aaron Freeman) just did a solo album and now the band is done (sound familiar?). But unlike Ed I guess he has different reasons. He's a drug addict and alcoholic and is trying to get his life back on track and sees Ween as a gateway to that lifestyle. He composed his solo album all from living in a rehab clinic and has minders go to gigs with him to physically make sure he doesn't take any offered drugs. He looks the best he has in years, finally healthy with no drastic weight gain and loss... So personally you'd think he's doing a good thing breaking up Ween for himself. But what sucks was how it happened. He announced it in an interview and then on Facebook to which the other half of Ween (Dean Ween) responded just like a fan saying "this is the first I've heard of this, what's happening? Call me". Which shows some serious communication breakdown.

Ween is a lot like Live, both from PA and both around the same age and both are childhood friends. They formed Ween when they were 12yrs old at school in New Hope PA. So to see another of my fav bands with a similar story to Live go down the same path, brothers falling apart, it's kinda sad.

That being said I believe somewhere down the track they will probably get things back together. They don't need much to make music, they still make it as a duo in their farm house studio in New Hope and both still live around there so I figure at some point they'll ride again. But yeah, still pretty sad.

Just as I thought, from his official spoke person's website:

"Morrissey would like to stress that reports of his 'retirement', as excitably earmarked by several newspapers and websites are "wishful thinking" on behalf of the writers." lol.gif
