Ed K new song sample and EP announcement, I'm the Proof Options

Ed just posted a 30 second clip of his new song "I'm the Proof" to his FB wall and announced that he is releasing a new EP this summer:

Yeah I could take that line a number of ways.

The song sounds just like his recent stuff, and only hopes to mix Christian Rock and American Idol pop garbage.

Ed just posted a 34 second clip of him listening to "I'm the Proof" and his fb post said this summer we will get an EP.

all of those things that were said above by me and others who value music, about the necessity of an end to the pop madness - yeah. if I were you, I'd skip watching this. (I'm too lazy to copy and paste a link.)
I feel a disappointment coming on.

and here's the rub. I'm a Christian. some of you make fun of that (oh well) but I love Jesus - no sarcasm whatsoever - but I also LOVE GOOD MUSIC.

and there are some Christian songs (anything John Tesh, for example) that musically, are horrid, but because the spirit of the song is perfect, it's ok.

So there will be songs (I'm sure) that Ed will sing that I will completely agree with lyrically. but musically - eh.
Take for example, Eat Your Love - I love love love that song. I've said before, sonically the greatest communion song ever. Lyrically - holy smokes. but it does sound cool, and I totally agree with what he's saying, so yeah, I dig the song.

But here's what I don't want: I don't want music about which I will say: "If I wasn't Christian and I didn't agree with those lyrics, I would never ever ever on purpose listen to that music"
because his voice doesn't have that raw thing that I can't name. It happens at a point in Grace and a few times in Zion and throughout Eat Your Love.

yes you did. and what happens musically after he sings 'I'm the proof" actually pissed me off.
I was more pissed off by Ed's thumbs up and dancing from the neck up after.

I mean, a thumbs up is cool, I do it all the time. just at that moment, in that time. cheese. I was angry.

First off, I have to say it's hard to judge something completely based on one small sample.

That being said, I enjoy some of the stuff on Alive. I've been holding out hope for what Ed was doing this summer and was hoping to hear something along the lines of Zion and A New World.

I listened to that bit about 15 times. It really kills me to hear that clip he released because that is not the type of music I listen to nor the type of music I want to listen to. To me it sounds like a Christian version of bad 80's music.

I'm holding out hope that he'll have a few other songs that I can get into, but this is the song he's teasing with because this is the one he thinks is the best and that he's most proud of. Just watch him - he actually is digging that song.

Between waiting to hear what the new version of Live has to offer and this clip from Ed I'm not sure what to think about the band I grew up loving.

99% of former Live fans feel the same way, Hoodie. The remaining 1% stuck with Ed and will defend him no matter what.
