were you at the show, or did you just see that clip?
have you listened to the songs posted on freaks4live.com?

you're totally allowed to not like Chris's voice - but remember, he's not Ed 2.0. He's Chris Shinn. So it's different. Not everyone will like it, obviously. I'd say, listen to as much as you can, wait on a final verdict for new LIVE songs to come out, and if you still don't like it, ok. LIVE is no longer a band for you, I guess.

As a long time fan of LIVE I saw the energy of shows change from the 90's through the 00's and I had the distinct pleasure of being at the York show on the 12th. It was amazing to see the old energy and intensity back into the music AND the vocals. Chris brings a kind of energy that's been lacking. I have also seen Ed's solo stuff and will always be a fan of his voice, and it's true that CS's versions of these old Live songs don't compare to the original recorded versions. But as fans, the only way to experience that original intensity of Throwing Copper, was to put the cd on in my living room and dance around. Because I was at 4 - I think- of the last several LIVE concerts (including the last one, in Westbury) and I had a great time, but it wasn't the same intensity as the shows in 1998. The show in York, had that same intensity.

So I don't mind the change in vocals, because it comes with a renewed energy from all members of the band. (I actually really like CS's voice)

But if it's not for you, that's cool. I'd just say give it a fair chance (which I really think means wait until we hear new songs before you totally abandon the band).

When I think of the "Spirit of Live" and I think of the York Dress Rehearsal show that so totally moved me and blew me away, and the passion and energy that Chris Shinn and Sean Hennessy and CCP bring to the Live community after the painful hiatus.... there is a lyric that keeps coming to mind:

who is this energy that never left or came?
give rise to passion the only glory
of this human story

THAT is Live today with Chris Shinn. That is what it is. It answers the question presented in the first line of that wonderful lyric.
