If Live were to stop making music here and now, what would be their defining song, to you?

By that, I mean what song will you always remember them by, always feel the most emotionally tied to, and always have the strongest memories of?

For me it would be Lightning Crashes. It's the song that I literally became addicted to when I first heard it on the radio, and therefore the song that made me buy Throwing Copper and eventually led me to my decade+ obsession with the band.

I don't know if I would have ever gotten into Live at all if not for that song. It's probable, because I've liked so much of their stuff since, but there have been none that I have LOVED upon first listen like I did with LC!

Lightning Crashes was the first LIVE song I heard, but now I can't stand listening to it.

I'd have to say Ghost, which is my current favorite.

Lightning Crashes, the song that made Live more than a rock band.

For some reason I had to go with Rattlesnake, maybe the wrong choice but for me there was something about seeing my very first live concert at age 12 and hearing them come out playing Rattlesnake that'll stick in my mind forever.

Yeah, I'm with you but I was tosing up between Rattlesnake and Lightning Crashes and ended up choosing Lightning Crashes.

The first song i have heard from Live was Selling The Drama, but when i listen to it now i don't have the same feeling that i had back than because i've heard it so many times. I voted Lakini's Juice because that's my fav song from Live now.

2 Days ago i got Walk Into This Room (thanx again) and i had the same feeling i had when i heard Selling The Drama for the first time. I'm sure i'll be addicted for another 12 years!

for me it has to be Pain Lies on the Riverside, because that is where it all started... i still remember hearing the disc for the first time, I remember walking into this tiny club in Trenton NJ and them playing that song Live, and I still am amazed that it was written by a 17 year old and at how well that song holds up 20 years later.

I Alone. It was one of the few songs that I have heard in my life that actually ended up changing my life in a way. It was the beginning of my love and obsession with the band.

I voted 'I alone' but I'd give a special mention to 'Pillar of Davidson'.

For me it's "Run to the Water". It's not my favorite song but it was the first LIVE-song i heard, and it gives me a good feeling. smile.gif Lightning Crashes is my second.

Lightning Crashes (though Turn My Head is my favorite). I would think most people would say Lightning Crashes - it really was Live's defining song.

Actually in some ways I'd be tempted to say "Flow" which seems like an odd choice .. but for some reason that song transports me to a place and time unlike any other song ever has by any band (save some early Morrissey singles).
It's not that it's really a good song, it's not really .. but for some reason this song reminds me of a warm day, of fun times (which is weird because it was a horrible time for me at it's release) .. the first time I heard it was when I took V with me on the train into the city one Saturday afternoon to watch Essendon vs Melbourne at the MCG (where where flogged them thumbsup.gif ) and sitting by the window on the train with the sun beaming down as the train pulled in closer to the city.
The song just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling and whenever I hear it I can almost feel the sun beating down on me on that day and yeah .. sounds pretty silly.

That's probably my most emotionally attatched Live song. Not exactly their most defining song to the world though, that is Lightning Crashes without a doubt.
