Are there any Live songs that you think the band missed the mark on and you wish that you could go back and redirect them to redo the songs?

There are two songs that I always thought rocked and could have been HUGE hits but Live totally fucked up - Sun and Flow. If the changes I mentione were made these would be two of the best songs Live ever did. Instead they're songs I can't listen to.

When I heard the music of each song the very first time I was thinking "Holy Shit" this is awesome - this song fucking rocks. But then, as quickly as I started falling in love with them, the songs self destructed.

I absolutely love everything about Sun except for this:

sun sun merciful one
sun sun
sun sun won't you lay down your light on us
sun sun

I think this is the worst mistake Ed made lyrically during his time with Live. I think if you could go back and just cut this part out, or re-pen these cheesy lines and improve them at all, you would have an instant Live hit. The music is absolutely awesome as well as the rest of the song. I always hoped that some alternative version of this song with a different refrain would appear.

Flow is a huge disappointment to me because this, with Simple Creed, would have made V a respectable album. I also think Flow would have been a huge single. I love everything about this song musically and lyrically until Ed starts screaming "Flow". It's totally unnecessary in song and it ruins it. It's like nails on chalkboard. If I could find a way to edit the Flow sceams out this song would be phenominal.

Anyway - do you have any opinion on my songs or any songs of your own you wish Live would have done slightly differently?

I think most of V was pretty awesome musically but the lyrics are really bad.

Simple Creed, Deep Enough and Like a Soldier- riffs are awesome. Ed should have sang some decent lyrics instead of rapping horrible ones.

Transmit Your Love - again, just pathetic lyrics but that part where the guitars explode when Ed is singing "Tell your leaders love is in town". Brilliant. My favorite part of the album.

I totally agree about Flow. Decent song that would have been better without Ed screaming in it.

Overcome should have been the whole band. Period. And it should have been on TDTH. One of my favorite songs i've ever heard LIVE do and they ruined it on the album (i doubt CCP had much say on this issue).

Totally agree. Overcome should have been whole band. I don't care for the album version but I do listen to the Full Band Version.

i think flow is awesome, especially when ed starts screaming, we've had plenty of sing-alongs to that song. I think they should change that part in SFBM where they play the whole album.

I really like Radiant Sea minus the middle where there is some rapping.

I actually seem to remember Ed stating that he actually wanted Night of Nights to be the first song on the album

They should have done that and dumped the rest of the album down a toilet.

I remember he said that it was good that if it wasn't first that it could be last because you could get to the end of the album and listen to it and have the album on repeat so that it was this never ending circle where it really could be first ... or something like that.

God, SFBM on repeat... omg.gif

A few people have mentioned liking that song. I'll have to give it a few more spins.

It could be because the rest of SFBM is so dreadful, but I really enjoyed that song. It's got a nice time signature hook and it actually sounds like Chad Gracey wanted to be there.
