I was bored and searching for some stuff and came across Alive's reviews on Amazon. I noticed it had a rating of 4.5/5 stars and there were 29 total so I started to check them out. 19 people gave it 5 stars. The lowest review was 2 stars (by four people).

The solo debut from the former Live frontman is a rebirth for the artist. While some songs keep the old Live flavor(Drive, Grace, Soul Whispers), others take Ed into directions he has never gone before (The Great Beyond, Stand, Fire on the Mountain). The end result is a balanced and overall fantastic listening experience. Needless to say, I highly recommend this album!

Amazon is the last place I'd look for balanced reviews. If an album is widely released then you get fans posting their positive 5 star reviews and all the haters posting their negative 1 star reviews.

If an album is not popular, then you only get fans reviewing, which skews the rating up.

True, when you get lines like "While some songs keep the old Live flavor(Drive, Grace, Soul Whispers)" you know not to trust such reviews. I mean that just isn't right.

I enjoy some tracks and others are total skips. Seems to be no middle ground on the album from my perspective.
