I have posted mp3's of "Mystery", "Show", "Sofia", and "The River" from Live's concert on April 9th at the Palladium in Cologne, Germany to the Featured MP3 Section. These mp3's were encoded from a satellite broadcast of this concert, so the sound quality is excellent. The rest of the songs from this concert will be available for download sometime in the near future.

Why couldn't Live have recorded Mystery the way it's performed in this concert? It sounds like he's not trying to sound like a female muse transcending genders or some shit

Actually I'd much rather listen to this "live" version than the way from the leak. It sounds so much better. nod.gif

No, he definitely still sounds like a female, but I do agree that this version is better than the leak version.

Thanks Dan for posting these!

This is why the band is called LIVE. I truly believe this band cannot be fully realized until you experience a live show and see all the raw elements come together.

I also believe that since TC, SS and barely TDTH, Live hasn't found the right producer to record their signature raw sound.

Maybe Taylor needs to produce his own band for the next album. Now that would rock! rockin.gif

/.02 cents...

All the songs sound great. He actually has some angst in his voice and hits those low notes, Taylor is rocking out. They're sounding great.

Adam sounds great doing backup vocals. Thank god Ed doesn't have a backup vocal track of himself while in concert, lol.

That's one thing I was thinking of while listening to the tracks, actually... why didn't Adam or CT do the backups on SFBM? I wonder if that was Ed's call, or Jim Wirt saying "No dude, it'll sound so much better if you do the lead AND the backing vocals on every song".

yeh they really fucked up mystery. Especially for me the last line "heaven is one so why believe..." on the album track ed keeps singing 'mystereeee' over it and you have to struggle to make out the lyric. In this concert version its done properly. shame

Yeah he was too busy trying to sound like a chick on the album version... I hope they decided to rerecord the vocals thus delaying the U.S. release... wishful thinking at best angry.gif

And WHY couldn't Ed sing the bridge of "The River" in those acoustic performances, the way he does in concert. In the acoustic performances he sounded like he was being strangled. Really good promotion... sarcasm.gif

See this doesn't change the lame content of the songs or anything, but it does give them much needed energy, Ed's voice sounds fantastic, not nearly as thin as on the CD (except for when he says "mysteryyyyyy" that is just horrible) but yeah this recording is pretty cool .. looking forward to hearing the rest of it though.

Ok listening to these a couple more times, I now got a big problem with Sofia. That guitar solo, that should be about 5 times as long, then break out into about a 10 minute jam where the band just plays whatever the fuck. Sofia should last for 10+ minutes in concert with Ed taking his ass backstage for a bit or doing his dance or whatever whilst the rest of the band just jams the fuck out in the middle of it .. hell it should be the same on the CD. We should get a funky ass bass solo and all sorts in this song .. it might be as lame as hell but it could be so much better musically.
