Hey folks, I've transcribed the lyrics to Photograph below, best I could, and maybe if anyone has corrections and we can get it right, it can go up in the lyrics section banana.gif

So much hate
Since you cut me down
So much waste
For such a tired town chocked full of grace
Talkin’ pound for pound
Love tired and chaste

Photograph everything
From sea to salt and back to sea
Photograph everyone
‘til the man gets high
And the mirrors bleed

So much hate
Since you cut me down
So long to wait
For such a tired town
Chocked full of grace

Photograph everything
From sea to salt and back to sea
Photograph everyone
‘til the man gets high
And the mirrors bleed

I know you’re waiting for me to come undone
Should you fall down
I’ll make it clear
Should you follow
And change the world

Photograph everything
From sea to salt and back to sea
Photograph everyone
‘til the man gets high
And the mirrors bleed

So much hate
Since you cut me down
So long to wait
For such a tired town
Chocked full of grace
Love tired and chaste

The word before 'full of grace' sounds like 'chocked', and that just about makes sense for me. Two words in the bridge, - he could be saying 'fall up' instead of 'follow' (I know that makes no sense but this is a) Ed and b) from the SS era. also, 'change the world' could be 'change the one' shrug.gif

peace,

D

EDIT: Removed 'the' from ''from sea to the salt'' .

Also, ''talkin' pound for pound'' could potentially be ''took in pound for pound'' but "talkin'" seems to make more sense to me so I'll leave it as is.

Very good job Deku. Looks spot on thumbsup.gif

After listening to this song 50 times.......Wow, what a diamond in the rough. We've had this scratchy demo/garage version for so long, and hearing the whole band perfom this song is simply amazing. To me, it might be one of their best songs ever...........I am not simply saying that either. It's really really a great song, even though simple. Very well put together in all places, lyrics and the music. Kudos to Pat for taking the time to get this out. thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

Cheers OTD, totally agree with you both. Though I had never heard the scratchy versions before, I never knew it existed. So the first time I heard it was the other day, and I was struck! I love mellow +Live+, and this tune in particular has that same airy quality as Turn My Head, it just takes you to a different place

It's certainly one of those type of songs you can mellow and zone out to. The old versions been floating around for several years or more.....I've had it but couldn't get more out of it, as it's a real bootleg recording and this one with all the members doing their craft.......excellent.

The last chocked is actually just chock. actually... I wonder if Ed knew that the phrase is "chock-full"

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/chock_full

I also don't like the section that says man gets high... it sounds like something else. May get high? I have no clue but I can't hear any "n"s in that section.

I admit it's a rather dubious lyric, but I'm not sure what else it could be. It could be 'til the ___ tire', but I don't know what that something is. I've listened to it a few times more, and I think it is 'man gets high'. Also, I swear I can hear 'chocked' on the last one, though the 'd' is harder to hear as he is singing in a higher tone. I only have this 'recent' version though if you can hear just 'chock' on the other version, I'll change it smile.gif

You can't lose Merica! But I agree it should have been on the album. Would have made a beautiful closer, but Gas Hed is great too. Personally, I'd have taken it over Rattlesnake, Graze, and maybe Century. I prefer it to at least half the songs on the record, but you can't get rid of Heropsychodreamer or Insomnia otherwise you're left with a bunch of very mid-tempo songs. You could also argue it was maybe too similar to Turn My Head to get on there, or that it didn't fit the overiding theme of the record. Maybe it's a good thing it stands as a track in its own right, makes it more special heynow.gif

Graze and Century are awesome songs and totally made that album great. Gas Head has to be the last song and Rattlesnake is a sweet opener.

I say it could have replaced Merica or Ghost. Ya, I said it ... Ghost!

I don't think it fits in SS. The drum part is way too similar to Rattlesnake and Rattlesnake fits better in SS than Photograph IMHO. It is good tune, but I prefer Mall Rat by a mile. Even Mall Rat doesn't really fit in SS. They would have done great B-Sides with the Lakini's Juice or Freaks single at the time.

Well after thinking maybe Iwould have taken Mall Rat instead of Merica and Merica could have been the hidden track.
