Not of new recordings, obviously. But one final greatest hits-unreleased songs type album ? Weren't there some songs Ed never wanted released for some reason or another ? If the rest of the guys have the rights, then they can now release them, right ? How does that work ?

I think most of them are readily available within the context of the internet and trading.

Well, sure. But they aren't seeing any money from it. I also suspect that your everyday fan doesn't know about them, or has heard them. Besides, many of the versions found on the internet are grainy and crappy. I'd buy it, just to have a high quality recording ...

I hate best of albums in general, so you can imagine what my thoughts are on this subject. They're just another way of saying a band is fresh out of ideas.

If Ed can't pull his head out of his ass and everybody be able to get along again so that they can write, record, and release a FRESH, NEW +LiVe+ album (no SFBM, BOP, or V bullshit)... then fuck it. I don't want it. I especially don't want some fucking best-of bullshit. The "best of Live" appears to have ceased sometime around the turn of the century.

Does this mean I wouldn't want another Live album if Ed wasn't apart of it? Well... yeah. Like Chad so eloquently put it, Live was always about the band. So, if they go and get another guy it's not going to be the same. No matter the asshat Ed may have become in these later years, he's still part of the reason why Throwing Copper is Throwing Copper.

If Ed is going to stay stuck in Ed's head, then I hope The Gracious Few blow up so big that going back to Live is considered laughable to CT, CG, and PD.

I don't think we would see another best of, we've already got one. However, if the guys have access I guess a b-sides release might be a distant possibility. If they didn't do it before though I doubt they will, or even can, now.

Actually a greatest hits album is a band's legal way of fulfilling a record deal. The last record on any record deal is almost always a greatest hits compilation or a concert recording. I know this because I used to work in the music mfg industry.

So what if a band's record deal is for two albums? What's the "greatest hits" album going to be... an EP? happy.gif

Damn, now it gets me thinking of Hold Me Up and the way it got huge promotion being the soundtrack to that comedy... They were speaking of releasing it on their new album.

Shit, more and more mysteries to come I figure.

I've seen that and those contracts never get to greatest hits as most bands who don't have a hit by their second album are dropped from the label or aren't resigned.

There are exceptions

hmm, we heard Ed saying earlier this year he certainly wants the song to release at some point. I dont know if he has the rights to do that. The worst case senario would be him re-recording it with his new 'backing band' uhoh.gif

If the other 3 are credited w/ the song, then he can't unless the other 3 give him the ok
