...Out to Sea with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Legends of comedy, this pair. Decent movie as well, with a good mix of laughs and set pieces. It also made me almost tearful when it covered characters feelings on love and loss which is most likely due to my mental state at the moment but, nontheless, quite lovely all around.

What have you just watched and what did you think of it?

Wolverine. I enjoyed it. On par with the X-men movies which I always liked.

I'm tempted to rent that out from the college library, but the long running time kind of puts me off a little. How's the pacing? And if it is slow, does it draaag or what? Sell it to me~!

I love the fact that you have these 3 characters that they really play off as absolute equals, all with their own strengths and weaknesses, all vying for the exact same thing yet none can really get it ($200k) without the others help. Unlike movies of today that might try this, GBU spends time following not just the "good guy" but the others as well, infact its "the ugly" that gets the most screen time ... true it's a long running time but the pacing is pretty good .. the build to the final epic shoot out is incredible, maybe the long run time helps with that. I think it really comes down to the fact that if you don't hate or at least have an open mind about spaghetti westerns you'll like it ... some people just flat out don't like them and at the end of the day this is still one of them .. but I just think this one pulls it off better than the rest.

There isn't a great deal of character development, they are what they are, good, bad and ugly, but it's easy to get behind them and choose your favorite. The music is also amazing, I think this was the first non musical movie to have big sales for a soundtrack ... it's certainly iconic ... scenes where a band is made to play music in a POW camp to cover up the sound of someone being beaten by gaurds is powerful and the final scene's music is just pure tension building.

I'd put this in my top 10 movies of all time, but then again, don't blame me if you don't like it tongue.gif
