Hello fellow Live aficionados...

In some other thread, I came across this link to a torrent.

If you download it and look at the contents, it's over 3 GB of Live bootlegs! Some of them are quite rare, too, I think.

Unfortunately, it's a dead torrent. There's one other leecher there, perhaps a hopeful fool like myself, and absolutely zero seeders. But it gives me an idea.

With the closing of bootlegheaven, and liverockspace's erratic management, it's kinda hard to find a good collection of bootlegs... professional/soundboard/radio/TV/DVD-rip recordings, and/or solid audience recording. Me? Well, I lost most of my bootlegs, and I have no other place to find them. I've gotten nearly all the best ones available here, but that's far from complete.

I was wondering if someone would put together a massive torrent file to include the soundboard and (quality) audience shows they have here, with maybe the B-sides/rarities thrown in. That's a big request, I know, especially coming from one so inadequate when it comes to uploads and such. For my part, I'd be completely willing to seed the torrent for as long as possible, as long as there are leechers.

What do ya say, Live fans? Particularly ++Ed++, Hoodstock, and other prominent members of the FoL community.... let's make it happen!

Sounds like a good idea. A few questions though:

1. Will the torrent consist of mp3 or FLAC files?
2. Videos can get quite large... are you sure you want to include them?
3. Which shows will be included? Should they meet a certain standard (sound quality and bitrate) before being included?

I think we should start off by listing the shows/content that you'd like to see in the torrent.

I suggest the following:

All Over You (bootleg CD) - 1995
Supernatural (bootleg CD) - 1995
Dance with Pinkpop (bootleg CD) - 2001

Thanks for the support! I really wish I could do it myself, and I certainly would, but like I said.... I don't have the actual shows anymore!

1. MP3 is probably best, for reasons of practicality and convenience. FLAC files are a pain to convert (to me at least), they're 10x (ish) bigger than MP3s. Nearly all the stuff already offered here are MP3s anyhow, so that's probably what most people have.

2. No, I wasn't thinking of videos at all, though if someone wanted to a video-only torrent, I would definitely support that too. I should have clarified by saying TV/DVD AUDIO rips. Not sure how common those are, but for a more recent example, the MP3s of Forever and Lightning Crashes from the Ellen Show.

3. What shows? I have no idea. All the major ones, to be sure, even if some people disagree about their quality (opinion is pretty split about Gruenspan, for example, but I would include it anyway).

Really, I was thinking of ALL the commonly (the ones that used to be on Bootleg Heaven, at least) professional/soundboard/radio/TV-audio ripped shows. The three you mentioned should definitely be included (as well as their 'bonus' songs). Also, stuff like Gruenspan, Rolling Rocks Fair (1999?), Brussels 2003, MTV Unplugged, Rhode Island '93, the various radio broadcasts of SS (Intimate and Interactive, Paradiso, etc.), the Belgium Secret Show, the 2 99X acoustic shows, the quality Pinkpop stuff, and maybe the newer stuff like NOTP and the Ellen Show appearances.

For starters happy.gif

Well, those are probably just at the top of my mind because I DID just (re-)download them recently... for one thing, the 'Secret Show' isn't on this site at all.

There's plenty of quality stuff that used to be available on Bootleg Heaven that isn't available here. But I don't have any of it anymore, and I'm afraid I don't remember the dates, venues, etc.

Why don't we have a channel on IRC like we use to. People can pick what they like then. I know I'd be willing to share my collection of 86 concerts... all 6GB of it that I download with dialup. Not only that, but people can chat there while downloading.

Torrents are difficult for some people because of firewalls, slow speeds etc. Plus, if theres a torrent of everything, some people might already have some of it and it's a pain to untick the stuff you don't want.
