Taken from FOL:

Check out Ed's phone interview with Jonathan Clarke on the "Out Of The Box" show on the Q104.3 web site.

Ed mentions that the CD portion of the DVD will have new material. He also said he's excited to show the fans what direction the band is heading with the new stuff. Very promising stuff!

15 HD cameras for the dvd and a live album bundled with it... it doesn't sound hot commercially but I know I'd buy it. Oh please, take a clue from other musicians and offer a more expensive, in depth package for us!

About the new material... I still don't think it sounded like he had anything set in stone.

so that indicates it must be something quite different than SFBM, cuz why else would he mention this? But let's don't forget Chad T. said (after finishing the SFBM record) `A new direction for me and my band...´, Ed called it 'the closetest thing to MJ ever' and Adam said ‘"you're gonna shit when you hear Live’s new material!'. Lookin' back I think: what the hell were they talking about? lol.gif . But still I have hope it will be some decent songs that they're gonna release with the dvd.

Now it's quite sure there WILL be new songs, we can discuss when they were recorded. I assume these will be real fresh new songs (not old outtakes), so I really wonder when they had the time to record something. Jimmy told us (when we were wondering about the 2 new RS songs being real new?, sept. 2007), that they hadn't recorded anything since SFBM. So when between now and sept. 2007? Or are they planning to record something coming months? (while there are touring a lot).

Ed told me back stage a few weeks ago that they were looking at adding new material to the CD. He said in the interview that the Live DVD and CD would be offered seperately and that the CD would should contain some new Live material.

That's similar to what Foo Fighters did with their "Skin and Bones" release (being seperate), except their was additional material on the DVD instead. With the length of the setlist I'm guessing that the CD would have to be split into a double disc in order to have the material be high quality.

Yeah...I'm sure songs can be written at any time but when did they have time to record these new songs?

How long does it take to record a couple of songs? They can write any time...and they're pros at this after 20 years. Surely it wouldn't take THAT long?

well it doesn't need to be very long to record songs, but SFBM was recorded in a very short time, and you know how that turned out ? nod.gif
hehe just joking.

Btw over at SOY they expect the new studio songs be digital downloads (and not physical on cd) and you can get them by buying the cd or dvd, based on what Ed told them or in interviews. Guess that would reduce the chance of Live having a new single.... too bad. And why would they do any work recording new stuff when it's only meant as a bonus/extra download?

I personally think the new tracks will be on the CD. Just my gut.

Based on the way Ed was talking backstage I expect them to be on the CD also.

That is in line with what CG told me back stage in Seattle last month.
